We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Francisco Valadez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Francisco below.
Francisco, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is a state of mind that requires daily practice. It’s not a set-it-and-forget-it thing.
Having a “solution-based” approach to everything helps as it opens possibilities even in the toughest of most complex situations.
“Not everything is so bad and not everything is so good” mentality keeps you level-headed as well.
I always focus on “running the marathon” vs quick sprints.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My entrepreneurial background along with my ability to deal with people from many different backgrounds, cultures and personalities, helps me lead and keep my team performing.
I was going through a rough financial situation in late 2018. Computers, teams, software, commerce and tech have always come naturally to me (I used to fix all my family and friend’s gadgets and PCs!). In one of my startups, I saw a need to aggregate data to make better decisions. This was right about the time we decided to add Amazon as one of our channels. From the first moment I learned about Amazon, I was hooked.
I started consulting on my own but soon realized that I needed more training. So, I started to consume every blog, video or website that had Amazon Seller Central content. Naturally, I ran into Steven Pope.
This led to me joining a webinar where I won a coaching call with Steven. We hit it off from the first minute and I could not had been more engaged!
At the end of my coaching call, Steven offered me a job and the rest is history.
I overcame the challenges by learning, moving forward and reaching out to people and organizations.
I want the world to know that investing in yourself and always learning new things that help you hone your skills will most definitely help you succeed in life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Learning is the most fundamental skill someone must develop. Always keep learning.
Communication. People with good communication skills will have a greater chance of succeeding.
Ownership. If you practice an “extreme ownership” mentality, doors will open and progress will be easier to find.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Three really important persons for me.
My Dad.
– He always pushed me to invest time and resources in myself even when I didn’t see the value of doing it.
My wife.
– The most important decision of your life is who you marry. My wife always has my back and keeps me grounded and focused. She is my cheerleader.
Steven Pope
– Steven has pushed me out of my comfort zone like no one else before in my life. I have found growth in many areas of my life. My career has taken off.
