Meet Frank Raybuck

We recently connected with Frank Raybuck and have shared our conversation below.

Frank, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Imagine a young boy at the age of 10 sitting up in bed in the middle of the night. He awoke for an unknown reason, but could hear the message clearly. “You are meant for more. You are meant to be seen by many and to create.” That young man was me.

I can still remember that night 35 years ago. It was the exact moment I knew that I was supposed to do something big. I did not know what it was, but it has driven me and pushed me to put myself out there to create. Be it acting, or producing film, I feel that I have found my purpose. I am a creator with a clear vision and the gift in the film industry.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

From the time I was in grade school until this very day, I have been involved in entertainment. It started with school plays, band, orchestra, and drama classes, having my own rock band in my teens and early 20s, to acting and producing films while helping manage a few people along the way. I have been lucky enough to have acted in commercials as well as a couple of movies that are or will be on streaming networks world wide.

There is something special that happens every time I am behind or in front of the camera. Yeah, the first couple of times I was nervous, but it wasn’t long until I begun to feel the comfort of knowing that this is where I am supposed to be. When you put so much time and work into a film, it really brings a sense of satisfaction when you see the finished product and it is actually pretty good!

I have recently become the Video Producer and Photographer for The Jared Caleb Agency. I also make my own independent films under Raybuck Productions. You can find our public videos at Raybuck Productions on YouTube or our website at raybuckproductions.com. We are very excited to be networking with new people that will bring exciting opportunities to create.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back at where I was to where I am now, I see a path that was paved by strength and perseverance. I see that every hurdle, every failure, and every success has brought me to where I am now. I have worked with and learned from so many talented people. In doing so, I have been able to pick and choose a style of creation that suits me and my personal preferences. With years of hard work, determination, and honing my crafts, I have become a skilled Actor and Producer.

If you are a new actor or filmmaker, know that you will hear “no” way more than you have ever heard it before. This is part of the process. You will have many ups and downs, but keep pushing forward! This is the toughest industry that I have ever been in, but also the most rewarding! Keep pushing yourself and keep learning. You will make some bad stuff and that is okay. Keep creating and you will learn something new every time you do!

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

As an independent filmmaker my biggest challenge is always raising funds. My largest production goal at the moment is to produce a series called Cowboys and Cocaine at a current estimated budget of just over 4 millions USD for the first season of 7 episodes. Combing through finances is no easy task. There are so many facets to filmmaking that many do not realize until they try to produce a film. There are many filmmakers out there trying to get funding for one of the most risky investments that an investor can make.

To help reduce risk for the investors, I have focused on business strategy and management. I have managed and started many businesses. My sense of business gives me a grounded perception of what film is when presenting to an investor. It is just business and a chance to make money when done properly. Investors care about ROI! This is the reason that I am strategic with every dollar. I bring professional and logical projects to the table with as many safeguards in place as possible. This in itself sets a standard of excellence that I believe will bring more investors to the table.
