There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. **Music Industry Knowledge & Business Acumen**
– Understanding contracts, royalties, publishing, and licensing
– Knowledge of distribution platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.)
– Networking and industry relationships
2. **Marketing & Branding**
– Social media management and digital marketing strategies
– Artist branding, image, and storytelling
– Fan engagement and community building
3. **Music Production & Performance Skills**
– Basic recording, mixing, and mastering knowledge
– Live performance and stage presence
– Songwriting, composition, and arrangement skills
Advice: Don’t take any shortcuts, be your positive true self, love what you’re doing, you don’t like it, Leave. .
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Negative people. But I remember to out positive all of them, and positive blessings come back to me, not negative like when I was younger and would try to fight fire with fire. Now that I’m older, peace to you all, I forgive you, then I walk away. . .
