We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Frankie Wiles a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Frankie , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
I think my sense of discipline really started when I was a kid. Around age ten, I started training seriously in professional ballet; that world shapes you. It’s beautiful and creative, but it also requires a ton of focus and commitment. Every single day, you’re working to make something just a little more beautiful, even when your feet hurt or you’re exhausted. It taught me how to show up fully, to chase progress, not perfection.
That mindset stuck with me. It’s the same energy I bring into real estate; being fully present for my clients, paying attention to every detail, and helping them create something beautiful in their own lives. It’s still that mix of art and discipline, just expressed in a totally different way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a real estate agent here in Charleston, but honestly, my business has grown into selling homes and so much more. On Instagram (@athomewithfrankie_), you’ll definitely see beautiful homes and my listings but you’ll also find a lot of community-driven content. I love highlighting the people and places that make Charleston what it is. I’m constantly interviewing local business owners, sharing what’s happening around town, and helping people feel more connected to where they live.
Community is really the heartbeat of everything I do. I’m proud to be deeply involved because I’ve learned that I’m not just selling a house — I’m helping someone find a lifestyle that truly fits them. I care about the little details, like what their commute will feel like, where they’ll grab dinner on a Friday night, or which coffee shop will become their new favorite spot.
That’s what life is all about: connection, authenticity, and creating a sense of home that goes way beyond four walls. And I think that’s also why my listings do so well — when you understand the heart of a community, you can tell its story in a way that really resonates. As I like to say… Knowing the market is one thing, knowing the neighborhood is EVERYTHING.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are being a great listener, having a warm heart, and having a sharp mind. When you truly listen, you can understand someone’s needs on a deeper level; not just what they’re saying, but what they’re hoping for in their life and in their home. Approaching my work with the right intention and a warm heart puts me in the mindset to make a real difference for my clients.
At the same time, real estate isn’t all soft edges. I wouldn’t have lasted a year in this business if I couldn’t also be a little bit of a shark when I need to be. Having a sharp mind allows me to wear another hat when negotiating, advocating fiercely for my clients, and making sure their needs are met every step of the way. Balancing those qualities: heart, listening, and strategy — is really what has shaped the way I work and the results I get.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Honestly, the most impactful thing my mom did for me was just be there: completely and consistently. I’ve never understood how she balanced it so well. She has literally always been there for me and has never once let me down. She’s been a constant source of light, love, and support in my life.
At the same time, she led in a way that taught me what was expected of me in life. She never set a rigid checklist for success, but she showed me how to be a good person, how to live intentionally, and how to do what’s right. She guided me with love, but also made sure there were guardrails where they needed to be, letting me learn as I went, make my own choices, and grow into who I am today. I am so grateful for that balance, for her warmth, her guidance, and the unwavering faith she has always had in me. I hope to be the same for my future family.
