We were lucky to catch up with Fred (FcOnTheBeat) Council recently and have shared our conversation below.
Fred (FcOnTheBeat), we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I’d have to say my resilience comes from my belief in myself. I don’t leave room for many options other than the path I set for myself. This wasn’t always the case, but life has a way of repeating a lesson until you get the message. I’ve learned the hard way that most things can be accomplished if you simply stick with it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a music producer, musician, composer, and audio engineer. I love my work because it allows me to create worlds. To shape emotion through music and media composition. Bringing an idea from concept to reality is a delicate dance, and I love taking every step.
My work can be found on my website: FcOnTheBeat.Com.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three things that were the most impactful so far is understanding what moves people, learning the best way YOU can accomplish this, and trusting your own individuality to do so.
The biggest part of what I do is taking musical ideas and translating them so that the most people possible and feel and understand them. The “magic” is doing that in a way that still allows you to have a fingerprint on your work. The biggest mistake I see being made countless times is simply replicating a winning formula, and expecting it to work the exact same way for you.
Once I learned that understanding “what”worked is less important than understanding “why” it worked. Once you get there, everything changes
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I’d have to say that the 4 agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz was a true perspective shift for me. The ideas are VERY simple:
“Be Impeccable With Your Word, Don’t Take Anything Personally, Don’t Make Assumptions, Always Do Your Best.”
but when you peel back the layers, they effect almost if not every aspect of your life.
