Meet Freda Steffl

We were lucky to catch up with Freda Steffl recently and have shared our conversation below.

Freda, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

In my career field, being an artist, there are a lot of criticism I face and will continue to face. Some of these are constructive and I learn from it but others are just negative narratives.

I am from a well grounded family with morals who believes in showing love and kindness to those who need it most. In my opinion, haters need love and kindness the most.

As a young child singing, dancing and acting in church entertainment group, it was fun and everyone showed me love. But as I advanced to study entertainment in college to have an educational background on being in the entertainment business, the hate started crawling in.

In college I was reminded that having an accent would affect my singing. I didn’t listen because I knew better. My reply was if Rihanna could, so can I.

One thing about me is I never allow anyone to change the narrative for me. I know the truth and I know my love for life, family and my career comes from within. I know the TRUTH and so when the hate is steered towards me, I never allow it to affect me for more than a minute.

Having a strong foundation from my upbringing plays a great role in how I am able to overcome naysayers/haters. I know these people are hurt people and they are pouring their pain/frustration on me thinking it would break me to make them feel a once of happiness/self worth.

The goal is to know that I am not their problem so I focus on being the best version of myself daily and forget about the naysayers. I also pray for them to find their purpose in life as that will eventually keep them busy.

In all I believe everyone has good in them, sometimes, they need to be reminded to look deeper to find it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Freda. I am a recording artist, a published model and an award winning actress/producer. Over the course of 4 years, I have been fortunate to be booked to perform both here in the USA and overseas (Germany, UK and Nigeria)

In 2018, I became the cover girl for River Balley Women Magazine. And won 4 awards including AMA awards for my first produced film starring alongside Hollywood star Ms. Vivica A. Fox.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My amazing personality, love for life and care for others have greatly impacted my journey so far.

Be consistent and never give up on your dreams. If you fail, start again.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My family has been the most helpful in the woman I am today. They are always there as my support team believing in me when I’m almost giving up.
