Meet Freddie Polk

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Freddie Polk. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Freddie below.

Freddie, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from the LOVE of Creativity. I get excited when I see or think of something new and interesting. When someone gives a compliment or loves what I created. I keep striving for the best of whatever I do. Of course, there is nothing perfect in an imperfect world. I have learned that if you keep going, stay focused and keep doing what you love, keeping that passion for your creativity. Eventually you will reach the high point of your dreams. It does not matter what others think or say, it is your dream your passion. Stay focused.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I consider myself a creative Textile and design Craft Artist. I focus on One of A Kind Designs. I Love to repurpose fabrics and Textiles ,also beautiful stones to create Jewelry and decorate my Sunglasses. Wearable Art in Fashionable
clothing is always a plus.. My main focus for the last Two years has been on Unique and out of the box Sunglasses. This started as a fun project during the Pandemic and it grew into a great project and passion. I have tw0 customers that have at least 10 to 12 pair of my OOAK Designed Sunglasess. I particitate in the Artsgoogle Show and presentation for serveal years also. The event will happen again here in Fort Worth,Texas on October 21,2023. I have been a design Bra contestant for a Local Hospital for Cancer Awareness. I do occastional local vendor shows, but I must say I have a great following by word of mouth. I was also featured in Voyaage Dallas 2019 and CanvasRebel in 2022. I hope to continue creating my designs an become a brand name “FreddieP Custom Designs” Formost I have been a Nurse for 52 years,I occasionally work part-time juist to stay active in that Field. I hope one day I will be a Brand Name in the Artist World of Fashions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe my gift came from the love that I have for beautiful items. I grew up watching my Mother, Grandmother and Aunts create beautiful quilts from repurposed Clothing and Fabrics. The love and care to create made an impact on me. The Skill set comes from the desire to create. You have to want to be creative and appreciate the beauty of it. You make mistakes, but you just keep going. I love to read and view what others create. I love bright and cheerful colors. I can feel it, almost taste it and see it in my mind before I create it. You have to be diligent and persevere if it is your passion. The journey is not always instant, it grows with your desire and the passion to be motivated.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would love to collaborate or partner with like-minded individuals that have a fashion sense and recognize the unique and the unusal as ART and a God given talent. Those that are encouragers and can inspire and appreciate your intense love of what you do. I would love to travel to Italy and France to seek out new and innovative creations. Fabrics and bold statement get my attention.. I love creativity.
