Meet Freddie Sunshine

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Freddie Sunshine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Freddie , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Take a break, step away. Take some time for yourself, rejuvenate. Eat great food, watch good movies, do fun shit! Then come back and create when it’s flowing. Don’t force it.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m Freddie Sunshine a musician, visual artist, and full-time worldbuilder. I write, record, and produce all my music, design all my merch, and create the characters and stories that live inside the universe I’m building. It’s all DIY and deeply personal. I’m not trying to fit into a genre—I’m trying to make something that feels honest, vibrant, and alive.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Resourcefulness

Learn enough to get things off the ground. Use what you have, experiment often, and don’t be afraid to make lo-fi versions before things get polished. You’ll grow faster by doing than by waiting.

2. Emotional Honesty

Be brave enough to say what you actually feel, not just what you think will land. I promise the right people will find you when you show up as yourself.

3. Consistency (But with Intention)

Stay consistent, but check in with yourself often. Know why you’re making what you’re making. That clarity is what will carry you through the slow seasons and keep your work evolving.

You don’t need to have it all figured out to start, just keep building, learning, and staying connected to what feels real to you.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The war of art by Steven Pressfield. Buy multiple copies, give it to your friends, family anyone. Beat it up, highlight in there write in it, take it everywhere.

I’m not sharing anything else about it, grab a copy. It’s an easy read.
