We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fredii Belaire. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fredii below.
Hi Fredii, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
I don’t really believe in writer’s or creativity blocks. The best records in my experience come from my experience. There is no better way to inspire myself other than just living life, letting go and falling into the direction that best suites the energy. Most times I think of it as not forcing the finished product. I’ll sometimes not finish ideas all the way, however finish them as they come to me. I might not be inspired today but it’s possible to experience life differently another day, I leave my mind open to the idea of adding layers to my art. Trusting my instinct to do that is at the core of my artistry.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a music artist born and raised in Jacksonville, Fl. As a singer/song-writer from Duval County specifically, the culture I’ve experienced here reflects in my art. I write and perform original music from an independent platform. On this journey in my artistic career I’d like to always remember my deeply rooted southern background and the rhythms that come with it. The idea behind my art is to explore the feelings of music and continue to create from a free space. There’s nothing more important to me than keep the art authentic and impactful, bringing a light to whoever decides to listen. My brand is a solid balance of calm and energetic tones; no limit to what a record may have featured on it. From the low vibrations to the higher falsetto adlibs, every part of each record contributes to the overall goal of a feeling provoking piece. Thought provoking or good feeling music nowadays is of high value and for that reason, I’d forever look for ways to contribute to the ecosystem of the vibes. The most exciting parts about contributing to something of high value are the challenges and innovation in the field.
I’ve released a few pieces of work to kick off 2024! In January, I released my tone-setting single ‘Coupe’. A record I wrote from the perspective of always being free in thought and limitless with creation. It features the production from Jacksonville, Fl producer Bobby Gvld, this tracks sets the pace for the collaboration released titled ‘Gvld Belaire Deluxe’. The most recent release titled ‘Nun Wrong’ is for the lover tones of February, featuring the production from Lincoln Minaj of South Africa. This record was written from the experience of having a crush in the workplace; perfect for the emotion filled days of February. You can get all of the music and other notice of events from my socials and soon to be up and running website.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d say that the most impactful skills I’ve found most impactful on this journey are time-management, preparation, and execution. These, to me, are what separates the artists of great value and those only existing for the moment. The timelessness of music is determined by a few factors and you’d give yourself the best chance to last by having that authenticity. No matter what, always stay focused on the task at hand and never not see your vision through. Even if it doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would, 10 times out of 10 you’ve learned something that would assist on your journey.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest improvement over the past 12 months has definitely been my ability to connect my art with experience. The best music has the qualities of great art; it provokes emotion, thought, and reflection. Life has its ups and downs, however I’ve been able to stay consistent with my creativity from that perspective. There’s no better feeling than elevation in the areas of life that you’re most fulfilled.
