We recently connected with Gabbi Barad and have shared our conversation below.
Gabbi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Well, I (Gabbi) was doing home organizing before I had kids. I took time to be a stay at home mom, and found myself wanting more for me personally and to show my kids that I could do something I’m passionate about and still be present with them. Amy is my sister in law, and best friend, and we always dreamt about working together in some capacity. When we decided to do this together it felt like perfect timing for both of us in our lives and we are very motivated to create this business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
We are Professional Home Organizers based in LA and Ventura County. We are sisters in law, and specialize in knowing how to make your space function for you and your family while keeping it aesthetic. We love to get our hands on a good pantry, closet, or even that scary little medicine cabinet. We are focused on building a career for ourselves, while raising our kids and building a home as well. I think the most exciting thing about this, is that I can build a business, while spending every day with my best friend, and still get to be the mom I want to be.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. How to talk to people. Knowing how to deal with all types of personalities and make everyone feel extremely comfortable for sure is the most important.
2. Having a knack and a love for organizing.
3. Once you decide you want to start something, just starting it. Don’t get too caught up in the details
I think our best advice would just be- if you want to do something, do it. Also, we both feel strongly that working with someone you’re close with and can trust has made all the difference.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge we are currently facing, is how to get dinner on the table every night! Really just how to manage our time and home while having a business that is growing really rapidly. It’s a great problem to have, but something we talk about daily and we wish was talked about more!
