Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gabby Rowe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gabby, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
In my opinion, having confidence is such a crucial part of owning a business, if not the biggest key to success. You can’t just market a service or product without the confidence to back it up. In reality, planners and coordinators are plentiful in the Nashville market, so to go above and beyond and stand out as a business, you have to have the confidence to sell yourself and own it. Yes…we can do this, this and this, just like our competitors, BUT here’s how we’re different and here’s how we will personally go above and beyond to serve YOU. Also, ‘fake it until you make it’ is very much a real thing when just starting out!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We are The Busy Bride LLC, a wedding planning and coordination service that specializes in month-of coordination! Our goal is to be a couples’ saving grace on wedding day and focus them in on THEIR goal…marrying their best friend without a care in the world. We take on all of those scary “unknowns and what-if’s” that may pop up and meet problems with solutions. We can handle the timeline, the set up, the clean up, taking on the role of middleman with vendors, and everything in between, so our couples can handle making some beautiful memories.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First and foremost, a love and understanding of people and the ability to effectively communicate with people is crucial for success is the wedding business. Shoutout to the many, many years of working in restaurants, bars and retail for my ability to defuse pretty much any situation, carry on a conversation with just about anyone, and deliver information in a way that is direct and to the point, but “sweetened” up a little bit. We meet a WIDE range of humans in our field and being the point-person on wedding day means that we’re the trusted individuals that sometimes have to break some not-so-great news, alleviate some family drama, or redirect stress from a flustered bride. A little bit of patience and a smile goes a long way in the wedding world!
Secondly, creativity! That could mean a multitude of things for a coordinator – taking a couple’s vision for their special day and running with it, getting creative with a solution to a problem (we can rule the world with some tape, safety pins, and super glue), or even just the creativity to dream up new ideas that work towards the betterment and growth of your business.
And lastly, plain and simple – hard work! That good, old fashioned manual labor type of hard work. There is SO much that goes on behind the scenes on wedding day. Your guests are greeted by beautiful music playing as the usher leads them to their seats down a flawless, candle-lit aisle. They enjoy their dinner at perfectly set tables, showcasing exquisitely-draped napkins and those Pinterest-perfect centerpieces. If they were to show up a few hours early, they would probably see the coordination team drenched in sweat, lugging 200 chairs in the Tennessee heat and attempting to balance on a ladder while rigging up some drapery on a ceremony arch. Wedding day is 100% not as glamorous as perceived. There truly is always something to be done and we’re not “it’s not my job” type of people. The sweat equity is REAL!
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is one who appreciates and trusts their coordinator! Most of my clients have those type-A personalities, just like myself, so they fully appreciate the attention to detail, organization and hustle it takes us to do our job. That said, we fully understand how much trust it takes to hand over the reins on a day that is so significant and special. It’s that initial understanding, appreciation and trust built up in a coordinator/client relationship that makes for an amazing event!
