Meet Gabriel Lucido

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gabriel Lucido a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I’m not sure, but I’ve always liked to learn new things I’ve always enjoyed take pictures and making videos since I was a kid. I think it’s very easy to work when you’re doing something you like to do. I think my work ethic wouldn’t be very strong at all if I was doing something I wasn’t passionate about.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Gabriel Lucido and I’m a food photographer working out of my studio in Orange County California. I have close to a decade of experience working on ad campaigns and packaging photography for items sold at Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club and more across the United States. I have over 50 clients and counting.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My most important quality for this type of work is that I will constantly work to improve my workflow, skillset, photography, and so on. The advice I would give is to always test new ways to light and edit to discover what appeals most to you, don’t get stuck shooting everything a certain way, especially if it doesn’t excite you.
