Meet Gabriel Murgo

We recently connected with Gabriel Murgo and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Gabriel with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic comes from watching and learning from my dad and being in sports young all the way through college. My dad molded me to become fearless and optimistic to get something done and to work hard to accomplish the task at hand. I have always been a competitor and willing to go through the storm alone or with a team to make sure I execute my purpose. My father being an immigrant from Mexico coming to America for a better living opportunity definitely drives me. Watching him my whole life get after it with no complaints, never really said much but just demonstrated what a man needed to do. With no high school diploma or college education he sure made a lot of things look easy, but he knew how to work his tail off to make sure he put food on the table, clothes on our backs, and a roof over my family’s head. All this showed me work ethic. Then him putting my brother and I in football at a young age made us even more hungry to chase our purpose. That’s when I became more focused in trying to make it to the next level, the environment I grew up in San Bernardino,CA. It’s easy to get distracted and involved in the things that have only harmed us black and brown people. That alone played a huge part in my work ethic to make it so I can one day bring resources and opportunity to bring up the communities I come from. So, the work ethic and discipline I need to make that happen is what drives me everyday.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I started my Brand G’NICETV in 2017 right before going to college. It started off as a YouTube channel of me conducting a series of interviews with current and former professional NFL players along with funny content and vlogs. The platform was just a space for me to explore and experiment with what type of content I wanted to really focus on. My sophomore year of collegeI took an intro to film course and quickly fell in love with storytelling. I was already a communications major with emphasis in journalism, so I merged both my interests together journalism and film. That’s when I focused on building my channel up to a media company, rebranding and focusing more on multimedia and utilizing my platform to highlight, share and amplify stories/voices of black and brown creators around the world that come from communities and environments similar to where I grew up from. G’NICETV isn’t your traditional media outlet. We are bending rules and most importantly keeping it positive. Spreading love and positivity through all pieces of content and projects we work on. Allowing athletes, musicians, artists, fashion designers, entrepreneurs, chefs etc. to tell their narrative raw and uncut without traditional media filtering the message and true story. As the founder and CEO of this company I’ve been slowly building my team. What I love best about what I do is how I am able to network with so many great people and build genuine relationships. This outcome ends up having great results in the work we do collaboratively as well because the work now becomes more natural and comfortable. Now as G’NICE expands there are so many things on the way including some high profile interviews and a website that will host G’NICE Entertainment.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Still going through the journey I would say that how I am able to connect and network with people has had a major impact. I believe one of my strongest qualities is building great long lasting relationships with people from all sorts of backgrounds, industries and beliefs. That has gotten me in rooms I’d never thought I’d be in. My discipline is something else that keeps me focused even when things are high or low, staying consistent and not allowing progression or steadiness to shake me. Always willing to push for more and not be satisfied. Listening and accepting criticism, gaining knowledge from peers, mentors and like minded people is something else that has carried me far. Being opened to trying out new things or approaches to move forward. The advice I can give someone who is going through their journey is to be open to wisdom and knowledge.Stay disciplined like anything you do the more you stay at it the more you’ll progress. Slow motion is better than no motion.Last piece of advice: don’t spend so much time on the struggle and worrying about what’s not going your way, we don’t have time to dwell. Only think of solutions and figure things out.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I have to give it up to my team along with my friends and family who motivate and push me on a daily basis. They are essential and key when it comes to why I am who I am today and why the brand continues to elevate. Biz from HUSSY PR is my publicist along with being Head of Marketing & Strategy for G’NICE Entertainment. Her knowledge and expertise from managing recording artists and developing SEO, brand building etc. has transferred over to help push me into developing my brand to become more than what it was before. Now becoming more structured and preparing content more efficiently. Has played a part in why we overcome the ups and downs. Jaelen Stephen, also on the team and is one of my college football teammates he’s played a role in my development with the brand since we were in college. He run’s his own consulting company called JAE’s Consulting. His role is a little bit of everything at G’NICETV. Jaelen is the cameraman, editorial producer, content creator, social media management and more. He’s been a part of the social media development for G’NICETV along with creating G’NICETVs new series “Point of View”. Both have played major roles and is why we have been very successful at pushing the brand forward.
