We were lucky to catch up with Gabriela Fernandez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gabriela, where does your generosity come from?
Generosity, for me, is all heart. It’s about giving without expecting anything in return—a genuine extension of resources to uplift others. From holding the elevator door for a neighbor to sharing a smile anytime, generosity is in those everyday acts. Whether it’s reserving a table at a restaurant for a loved one or delivering a homemade dish to a friend in need, it’s about sharing what’s valuable. The more we practice generosity, the more fulfilling it becomes, creating a beautiful cycle of giving.
Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a former media executive who found solace in yoga amidst burnout two decades ago. What started as a personal journey transformed into a mission to share the profound benefits of yoga. My Teacher Training, initially pursued for self-growth, revealed my ability to guide others through the transformative power of yoga. Combining it with essential oils, aromatherapy, and plant medicine, I help clients find peace, manage stress, and avoid burnout. Grounded in the belief that we are stronger than our minds, my decade-long teaching journey focuses on empowering others to live more fully.
In today’s competitive environment, what three skills or qualities matter most for success?
- Control Over Personal Experience: Yoga teaches us that our power lies in controlling our own experiences. I’ve learned not to control others’ words, thoughts, emotions, or actions but to focus on mastering my own journey.
- Mindful Stillness: Slowing down is key—slowing down the breath, practicing stillness, and becoming comfortable with oneself. Quieting the mind is a skill; remember, you are the master of your thoughts.
- Magical Essential Oils: Essential oils are like magical potions, influencing our energy and vibration. They heal not just physically but also address emotions. These tiny bottles can be our allies in handling everything from a cold to wounded hearts or self-esteem.
