Meet Gabriella Allshouse

We recently connected with Gabriella Allshouse and have shared our conversation below.

Gabriella, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I try to put aside times where I can brainstorm new ideas, or even ways I can improve or go a different way with existing ideas I have!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the owner/photographer for “Focus On The Good Photography!” I specialize in portrait photography of families, children, weddings, seniors, maternity, and more! My photography is very bright, colorful, and natural! I really like to capture everyone’s genuine smiles and joy! Normally you won’t find me posing my clients, but instead having you walk, talk, laugh, and spin! That is one of the main reasons I get to work with children so much we all know they rather do anything but sit still for a boring picture!!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One big quality to have is confidence. A lot of times being a photographer it’s easy to second guess yourself, especially when there’s so many people compare ourselves to but you have to realize people come to you for a reason! When doing a session a lot of people get anxious about where to stand and what to do so confidence is key! Guide them the whole way! A good skill to have is being organized! I’m not great at it but as I’ve become busier and I have so many people booking with me, paying me, picking dates, messaging me, all while I edit photos I’ve learned to utilize tools to help me stay organized! Staying organized I actually can get a lot more done in a quicker amount of time too! Also if you’re in photography always keep practicing especially new skills. The more skills you can master with lighting, editing, and photographing different subjects the more rounded you’ll be and the more clients you can work with! It also helps you stand out more when you can do different things!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who is up for working with me to create the best memories for them! They give me their visions and I show them fun and creative ways we can capture it best! I love when people are kind, and patient too it helps us all have fun! I really care about creating a genuine friendship/relationship with everyone I work with! I have so many clients I have captured their engagements to weddings or their maternity all the way to their child’s 2nd birthday! But I really love meeting anyone who wants to work with me!
