Meet Gabrielle Thompson

We recently connected with Gabrielle Thompson and have shared our conversation below.

Gabrielle, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic was forged out of necessity. Growing up poor, I had no choice but to work from a young age. While many of my peers were focused on school and social lives, I was juggling jobs just to keep myself afloat. Survival wasn’t just a concept—it was my reality. There was no safety net, no backup plan, only the understanding that if I didn’t work hard, I wouldn’t make it.

But work became more than just a means to survive; it became my escape. The weight of being on my own, of navigating adulthood without guidance, was overwhelming. Pouring myself into work gave me something to focus on, something to keep my mind from dwelling on how difficult life was. It was my way of regaining control in a world that often felt unstable.

More than anything, I worked because I wanted to prove to myself that I could rise above my circumstances. I refused to be defined by where I came from. Every shift, every late night, every sacrifice was a step toward a future I was determined to create. My work ethic is not just about diligence or persistence—it’s about survival, resilience, and the unwavering belief that I could overcome anything standing in my way.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I wear many hats, but at the core of everything I do is a passion for growth, creativity, and making an impact. I work in property management and real estate. It’s an exciting field because no two days are the same, and I love the challenge of problem-solving while creating value for others. I’m also actively working toward earning my real estate license, which will allow me to expand my reach and take on even bigger opportunities in the industry.

Beyond real estate, I’m the co-founder of a digital magazine, a project born from a desire to create a space for meaningful storytelling and fresh, new perspectives. Seeing it grow and connect with readers has been an incredible journey. In addition, I’m working on a novel—something deeply personal that reflects my love for storytelling and resilience.

I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I look forward to expanding in all the things bring me joy!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities shaped my journey: determination, refusal to settle for a dead-end job, and continuous learning. These helped me navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and progress in my career.

Determination drove me to push forward despite obstacles. Success rarely happens overnight, and perseverance is key. Staying focused on long-term goals helped me overcome setbacks.

Refusing to settle for an uninspiring job allowed me to seek better opportunities. Taking risks and stepping outside comfort zones is essential for growth.

A commitment to learning kept me adaptable and competitive. Expanding knowledge through education, mentorship, and experience opened new doors.

For those starting out, stay committed to your goals, be patient, and grant yourself grace during the times when you feel overwhelmed or stuck. Success is a journey shaped by perseverance, courage, and continuous growth. Even I am still on that path.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

One of the biggest struggles I’m dealing with right now is balancing my time between all the different things I’m working on. I tend to take on too much without realizing it, and before I know it, I’m overwhelmed. I want to do it all, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day or enough mental energy to keep up.

The hardest part is accepting that I can’t do everything at once and that I need to be smarter about how I use my time. My ambition pushes me to go after multiple goals, but I have to remind myself to set priorities and not overcommit. Finding ways to manage my schedule better, like setting realistic goals, will help take some of the pressure off.

Moving forward, I’m going to focus on being more intentional with my time so I don’t burn myself out. It’s all about finding a balance that lets me keep making progress without feeling constantly overwhelmed.
