Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gage Blevins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Gage with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Candidly I just have to say my work ethic comes from how I was raised. One of the greatest sentences ever told to me by my father was ‘I can be anything in the world that I wanna be and if I choose to be a ditch digger then make sure that I’m the best ditch digger’ that I can be and with that mindset I have grown. I am happy to say I’ve had very successful careers across many different Lifestyles that I still bounce between as I see fit, and as I want to stay off boredom. I’ve always been something of a policy guy. If it’s written down and plain English, I can follow it and also being able to think outside the box and pop up emergencies so to speak has also become something of a specialty of mine. Imagine if Enron did not follow the corrupt route. That is my attempted output towards anything I try

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
The yo-yo that is my life has once again decided to spin me in the direction of music and authentic creativity. After further, realizing myself worth in a very fun yet tedious and micromanaged position, I discovered what should be common sense: I need to be the main character in my own life. Since moving to Tampa, I have had very little family time and creativity time. I was burning the candle at both ends, but now as a special-needs elementary teacher, I have my afternoons and weekends to myself and my family so I can continue making my music, writing my stories, holding my craft with a wonderful three-piece band and always looking for more while making sure the bills get paid and mental health and happiness. Is it the Apex. I am presently working on three different albums to release and once one of them is done it will mark over 100 songs I have released as an independent artist. Recently becoming married, has had a great and wonderful positive effect on everything as well, I figured marrying your best friend who happens to be a fellow gamer, martial artist and gamer helps!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If you are early in your creative journey, be true to yourself, listen to what others have to say that have done well before you or even they’ve just done before you. Have a sound resolve; I was very much a pushover in the early days of my own creativity because I want to make other people happy sometimes I still do but now my music is just that my music I say that to say, perseverance, understanding the game as well as knowing what your true to life chances are of making it big. I wasted a lot of time thinking I had to be number one in every little thing that I did when some of the best moments was when I was giving number one effort into a group project or something that wasn’t the greatest chance of me furthering my career a.k.a. a little side gig in a dive bar once a month or a private event and teaching music itself not just performance. Learning to not compare myself so much to others has been one of the most impactful things on my journey.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Typically time and the emotional battery that I need to set up all of my music gear, record each instrument myself, mix, Master, produce and release. I have a lot of moral support and great connections to help me hone the product but to make the product ‘real’is typically just me and if the stars aren’t aligned not much gets accomplished.
