Meet Gal Pearl

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gal Pearl. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gal , so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

Burnout is something I still struggle with, but over time, I’ve developed strategies to help manage it. As a full-time independent musician, I handle everything from promoting myself and creating music to practicing my setlist , booking shows and much more. It can be overwhelming, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.
To manage burnout, I focus on the progress I make with each small step. When I feel drained, I take a break to go outside for a little walk, which helps clear my mind and reconnect with the world beyond my daily tasks. This break allows me to reset, take a deep breath, and remember why I love creating and performing music. Remember how it makes me feel when I am on stage. This approach helps me recharge and return to my work with renewed energy.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I was born in LA and grew up in Israel. Music has always been a significant part of my life. From participating in the music department in high school to performing at national and international ceremonies, my journey has been deeply intertwined with music. I competed in The Voice Israel Season 3, studied music in college, and took an artist development course in London. Along the way, I took part in many musical projects, performing, recording, and creating.

At the end of 2020, after spending most of the year indoors, I felt ready for a change and decided to move back to LA to pursue my dreams in the music industry. Arriving in the middle of the pandemic during such an isolated time, I began to gather my goals, my purpose, and my dreams. Although I didn’t have all the details figured out, I knew I was embarking on an interesting journey, and I was curious and ready for it.

With my passion for singing and performing, along with my skills as a pianist, I developed my music act. I started traveling around Southern California, the US, and abroad with my keyboard, performing wherever I could. Over time, I was invited to many private events and festivals, creating a brand of music that I am inspired by, love to listen to, and that brings a good vibe to the audience. I love performing, exploring new stages, and traveling to new places.

Last year, I formed a band that emphasizes my main genres, soul and R&B. With the support of my amazing crew, I have been able to add more and more originals to our set lists, showcasing another layer of myself and testing it with audiences.
Today, I continue to perform with my music act as a solo artist, duo, trio, and full band in various projects, events, and festivals. I am currently working on recording and releasing my own original music, which I am very excited about!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three things that really helped me out: curiosity, being purpose-driven, and seeking guidance.

Curiosity has always kept me going. I love learning about music—everything from playing and performing to promoting my shows to learning the business of it. It keeps me excited and it helps me to improve always.
Being purpose-driven is important. Being an independent musician can be overwhelming with so much to do. But I break it down into small steps and try to celebrate each win. This helps me stay motivated and reminds me that I’m moving forward.
When faced with a challenge, I focus on understanding its core. I find that sometimes seeking guidance from experts who are masters in their areas can be incredibly helpful and inspiring. They offer valuable ideas and knowledge that help me master my craft and navigate obstacles effectively.
For those just starting, I’d say stay curious and keep learning about your craft. Ask lots of questions, connect with other musicians, and remember that even the biggest stars started where you are now. Stay focused on your goals, celebrate your progress, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it. Every little step gets you closer to your dreams.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been in the business aspect of my career. I realized that no agent is going to magically appear and take care of everything for me. I need to put in the work to get noticed, talk about my music, perform and record to be heard, and network to be seen. This shift in mindset has been incredibly empowering and has driven me to take charge of my career more actively.
