Meet Gala Magriñá

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gala Magriñá. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gala below.

Hi Gala, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

All of the spiritual work I’ve done—including twice daily meditation, studying ancient knowledge, reading spiritual and self-help books and attending spiritual and wellness retreats—has helped me in a myriad of ways, but when it comes to sources of optimism, two things stand out:

It’s helped me see how the world really works, recognizing that everything is energy and that thoughts and words become things. By staying mindful of what I think and say, I can actively shape a reality I want to create. Additionally, understanding that every experience, whether “good” or “bad”, is a necessary part of my journey helps me stay optimistic and grounded even in times of stress.

Developing a deeper understanding of how the world functions and embracing a spiritual outlook on life has strengthened a connection to my intuition. Even when times are rough, I can tap into a deep inner knowing that all my dreams are on their way to becoming reality, which helps me stay optimistic. Interestingly, brain scans of people who have a more spiritual versus materialistic view of the world demonstrate thickness in certain parts of the brain that non-spiritual people do not have. It’s further science-backed proof that a spiritual approach to life really is the way to go!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

After studying film and television at NYU, I started my career at Diesel, the Italian clothing company, doing their window and in-store displays and worked my way up to Creative Manager for the US. I was putting designing our showrooms, office spaces, marketing events, and eventually the stores and windows. As I grew in the company, my real passion was design. From there, I opened M Crown Productions, Inc-a design and production agency that produced pop-up shops, fashion showrooms, events and exhibition design and production. This is eventually what led me to interior design.

In 2018, I discovered Vedic meditation and knowledge, and it was a game-changer for me. It helped me reconnect with my purpose, better understand how the world works on a deeper level and rethink the impact I wanted to make through my work. I became passionate about holistic design and mindfulness, which led me to shift my focus from temporary spaces to creating permanent interiors rooted in holistic interior design. I got my certifications in holistic interior design, feng shui, Well and Vaastu, and that’s when my mission came into focus: to merge the cool and beautiful with the holistic and mindful to create spaces that heal, inspire, grow, and elevate energy. And so, Gala Magriñá Design was born.
Traditional interior design focuses on beauty and function, but holistic design goes a step further—it recognizes the powerful effect our spaces have on us and uses tools to design not just for aesthetics, but for the mind, body, and soul. It also takes the planet into consideration by introducing more eco-friendly and sustainable choices. It’s interior design, but better for you. You can have a gorgeous space that still feels soulless and draining, while a holistic approach ensures that every space is also nurturing and life-supporting. Well-designed interiors become a perfect reflection of the person living in them, fostering energy and well-being rather than depleting it.

One of the things I love most about my work is helping my clients discover how their homes or offices can truly support them. Each room can be designed to meet your needs today while also aligning with the person you aspire to become tomorrow. It’s about creating spaces that inspire growth, healing, and connection, which is what I believe makes my work impactful on a larger scale.

Aside from our large-scale commercial and residential interior design projects, I also offer something called A Beyond Spaces Consult. This in-person or virtual consultation is based on the idea that our spaces are a direct reflection of us. Just as a palm reader reads someone’s palm, I can read someone’s space and bring up some of the issues or problems I may be seeing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The first is my intuition. Even when things were tough or not going my way, it gave me the confidence to keep moving forward because I could sense it was all going to eventually fall into place.

The second is my discipline, which enabled me to build and stick to wellness routines that enhance and support my creativity and productivity, helping me to show up consistently, day after day, no matter what, and keep moving forward.

And lastly, I’d say it’s my desire to change the world. I find that most of us don’t treat our spaces with the care, intent and mindfulness they deserve, especially considering the profound impact they have on us daily. This gives me a huge sense of purpose and drives me to show up every day committed to changing that.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Always! I love collaborating with like-minded people, knowing that not only can bigger things be accomplished, but it happens more enjoyably and effortlessly. I’d love to collaborate with more people in the wellness industry to bring holistic interior design into those conversations because I find it’s missing in the space.

I am also working on a TV show based on my Beyond Spaces consults—where I read people’s spaces like a palm reader reads a hand—and then, as we implement design changes, we also implement personal changes in the client’s life. After all, our spaces are simply reflecting back to us who we are. Hearing from anyone interested in producing or getting involved in the show would be amazing!
