Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Galleon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Galleon, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

We keep our creativity alive by always trying to push ourselves with new concepts and songs, as well as trying all the different ideas we come up with. It’s important to seek out new music for inspiration, which is why being in a band is so exciting. We all put each other onto our personal favorite artists, collectively broadening our horizons and expanding our sonic palette. Our goal as a band is to create new and exciting things.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

The goal of Galleon is to combine the classic sounds of 60’s and 70’s rock with a modern twist. The band formed in 2023, comprised of Alec Zell on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Will Bofenkamp on drums, Jack Zell on lead guitar, and Ethan Schechinger on bass. Although we appreciate many of the same bands, our tastes in music vary greatly. The great thing about Galleon is that we can all bring our own favorite sounds in, and they blend together really nicely.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

In our journey, some skills that helped us have been learning to work together as a full band and listen to all ideas. Another skill is finding inspiration in music that is in the same genre, or even popular songs that are not the same style as your music. The last skill we use is also the advice we would give to people starting their journey, and that is learn the things that excite you. Music starts to lose its touch when you lose your excitement for it.
