We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gary Lathion . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gary below.
Hi Gary , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Alot of my confidence and self esteem was developed early in life by making my self taking a chance on doing things that I wanted to learn regardless of my experience. I believe that my confidence was further developed serving in United States Marine Corps where we practiced “adapt and overcome ” daily.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I currently own and operate a food truck with my wife Maritza. We’ve been married 28yrs and have 2 children who are grown and 1 grandchild. We’ve been operating the food truck for 8yrs now. One of the most exciting things we have done is serving food to people from all walks of life. To see the enjoy your craft and the feedback from them about their experience has been very rewarding. We serve a combination of bbq and Puerto rican cuisines.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patience, resilience, and customer service skills have been some of the most impactful areas of knowledge. My advice for those early in the journey is keep an open mind and be a sponge and learn all you can from everyone.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My mother has been the most helpful in overcoming challenges. Working with my wife for 8 plus years has helped me build and develop the essential skills and qualities to be successful by trial and error.
