We were lucky to catch up with GB Michaels recently and have shared our conversation below.
GB, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I had a business coach tell me something one day, that resonated with me so much & I never forgot it. He said “Imposter syndrome is just lack of experience. It’s not that you’re not capable, it’s that you haven’t done it enough.” With this I was determined to get as much experience as possible. Once I did, there was no question in my mind that this is exactly what I am called to do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a health & fitness coach, that helps Christian women not only live a healthier lifestyle but to further understand their value in Christ.
The most exciting thing about what I do is seeing my clients (aka Queens) become more confident in who they are and what they’re capable of. The community of women in the program is unreal & even pushes me to be the best I can be every day.
I also do pop up bootcamps with my friend Sandy Iro, who is also a fitness coach & I always offer it free to my queens to join so we can meet & build deeper connections.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say faith, tenacity, & confidence are the top three qualities I believe have helped me be this successful & is imperative for anyone to develop if they’re trying to be successful in any industry.
Faith is not only helpful for mental health, but it helps you understand that whatever it is you’re trying to achieve is more for others than it is for you. It’s for a bigger purpose.
Tenacity is required in anything high-level. It’s not going to be easy but you have to have the tenacity to do more than what is required of you to get there. Go the extra mile. Contact whoever you need to contact- even ask for help. Whatever it takes to get there, you have to be willing to do what it takes.
Lastly, confidence- at the end of the day if you want people to listen to you, you have to be confident. Or at least act like it until you really are. I’ve seen people be so confident & so wrong but because they were so confident in their stance, it made me second-guess myself. You can also be factually correct, but if you’re not confident in yourself, everyone questions it. Confidence is key, period.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My business coach. Everything I needed to take my business to the next level, he taught me.
