Meet Geek Girl

We were lucky to catch up with Geek Girl recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Geek, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I honestly went on a journey to find myself. The mind is a very powerful thing. The more you look inward and work on yourself instead of worrying about outside influences you’ll find that life becomes more easier and everything falls into place. I’ve always been a fan of music and battle rap so I decided to visit a local battle rap event at Pyrexx Battle League. Then met the league owner Tonny Corleone and showed him what I do as a professional cosplayer. I’ve always loved being an entertainer of all sorts. He saw I did music and poetry on my page. He came up with an idea to have a fan battle at his next event and asked if I would be interested. I said yes and Pyrexx has been my home league ever since. I’ve haven’t lost and now have become 2 v 2 partners with URL legend Tink Tha Demon. I’m even more excited to see where this journey leads and I’m always reaching for the top.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hi I’m Geek Girl. I’m a battle rapper with the league Pyrexx Battle League. Pyrexx Battle League is always holding battle rap events across the Carolinas. Follow me @thencgeekgirl to stay tuned for events. I’m also a professional cosplayer who holds panels and entertainment through different comic cons. You can catch me at Fayetteville Comic Con whom will be hosting their last comic con Oct 19th-20th 2024. I’m a makeup artist too and I can do special fx makeup. I also have music out now Geek Girl- Try it out and Geek Girl- Too Expensive with both songs available on all listening platforms (Spotify, Youtube, Apple Music etc). I also make battle rap artwork for URL artists and others as my way of giving back to the culture. I also have Geek Girl merch available on my social’s anyone can dm me for specialized shirts.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

First and foremost is visualizing you’re dream and seeing yourself as your highest self. Next step is to put action towards your goals. 3rd is believing that everything will align and what’s supposed to happen will. When you start taking everything as a lesson instead of a loss then you will learn and grow no matter what obstacles you come across. There’s always a different way and perspective to look at things. Again the mind is a powerful thing so if you don’t believe in yourself how will you expect others too? You have to be confident in what you do and surround yourself with like minded individuals. The advice that I give to others is you can find a community on the same level as you no matter where you are on your journey. For example if you’re a model who’s just starting out there’s also a photographer who’s just starting out. Everyone started somewhere the important part is just to start.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I’ve had so many people that have supported me and given me advice. In my battle rap career I definitely have to thank my league owner Tonny Corleone who has guided me and always believed in me. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for him. Also Tink Tha Demon whom I have learned so much from especially when it comes to cadence and delivery. Coffee Brown who has been so supportive with teaching me the game about dealing with stardom and learning your way. Bless & D-Future for being my sparring partners and always lending an ear. Even took a few classes with Chilla Jones & Mickey Factz through Pendulum Ink which were super helpful. Kid Chaos & Swamp who have always been available for advice when needed.

I also want to thank Keith Gibbs for giving me my first platform with Fayetteville Comic Con as a professional cosplayer. Stop Button Barcade & Tokyo Retro Gaming who have hired me on many occasions for my cosplay expertise.

Also a big Thank You to URL for allowing me to share my artwork at their events and give back to the culture.
