Meet Geeta

We were lucky to catch up with Geeta recently and have shared our conversation below.

Geeta , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I believe my resilience is deeply rooted in the journey of starting my life and business from scratch. When I first opened Wax & Facial Center, I didn’t have the luxury of major funding or a large marketing team to pave the way for me; I had to rely entirely on my own two hands and an unshakeable belief in my vision. There were many moments early on where I felt the weight of uncertainty, especially as I navigated the complexities of running a business while still building confidence in my English skills. Instead of letting those fears paralyze me, I treated them as stepping stones, learning to push forward one day and one client at a time.

That resilience is fueled constantly by the people I serve. Every time a client leaves my studio with a smile or takes the time to write a heartfelt review, it validates all the hard work and late nights. It reminds me that resilience isn’t just about toughness; it’s about endurance and staying true to your path even when the road is rocky. Overcoming those initial barriers taught me that setbacks are temporary, but the reputation you build through genuine care and persistence is permanent.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the owner and heart behind Wax & Facial Center, a private skincare and waxing studio here in San Diego. I specialize in full-body waxing, threading, and customized facials designed not just to treat the skin, but to calm the spirit. What I feel is most exciting and special about my brand is that it challenges the traditional, often impersonal “salon” experience. In my studio, there is no revolving door of strangers; it is just me and the client. This allows me to create a truly skincare environment where hygiene is impeccable, and the service is deeply personalized. I want my clients to feel that for the hour they are with me, the world stops, and they are the sole priority. This level of intimacy and trust is rare in our industry, and it turns a routine beauty appointment into a moment of genuine self-care.

Professionally, I am currently focused on expanding the educational aspect of my brand. I don’t just want to “fix” skin; I want to empower my clients to understand it. I am spending more time breaking down the science of skincare and hair removal for my clients so they can maintain their results at home. I want people to know that Wax & Facial Center is a place where luxury meets accessibility—I work hard to keep my prices reasonable because I believe everyone deserves to feel confident and cared for. Whether it is a first-time Brazilian wax or a rejuvenating facial, my goal is to prove that you don’t need a big corporate name to get world-class results; you just need someone who truly cares.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were unwavering attention to detail, emotional intelligence, and patience. My obsession with detail—specifically regarding hygiene and technical precision—is the foundation of my brand. It established trust instantly in an industry where clients often feel vulnerable. Emotional intelligence was equally impactful; it allowed me to read my clients’ energy, knowing when they needed to vent and when they needed silence, turning my studio into a sanctuary. Finally, patience was vital. I didn’t start with a grand salon; I started small, overcoming language barriers and limited funds. I had to trust that building a reputation brick by brick was better than trying to build a castle overnight.

My advice for folks early in their journey is to stop comparing your “chapter one” to someone else’s “chapter ten.” Focus deeply on mastering your craft and your hygiene standards first; these are the non-negotiables that will sustain you when trends fade. Developing empathy is just as important as developing skill—practice truly listening to your clients, as their trust is your most valuable currency. Lastly, be patient with your growth. Don’t rush to be the biggest; strive to be the best at what you do. If you stay consistent and authentic, the success will follow naturally.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I would say my family has been my rock and my most vital support system. Coming from a background where I had to navigate a new culture and language, their unwavering belief in me gave me the courage to open my own studio. They were the ones who reminded me on the hard days that my skills were valuable and that my vision for a private, care-focused space was needed. Their emotional support allowed me to focus entirely on mastering my craft without the fear of failure constantly looming over me. Knowing I had that foundation at home gave me the strength to take professional risks.

Equally important have been my clients, who have truly been my greatest teachers. In this industry, you learn the most by doing, and every person who trusted me with their waxing and skincare needs helped me refine my technique. Their honest feedback and loyalty helped me develop the essential skills of patience, precision, and gentleness. They taught me that a visit to a studio is about more than just hair removal; it is about trust. That lesson, learned directly from the people I serve, has been the most helpful factor in my success.
