Meet Genesis Moreno

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Genesis Moreno a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Genesis , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I strongly believe that we are all born with a purpose and a mission to fulfill in this lifetime. However, I also believe that the speed at which we discover it and feel confident to embody it depends on our upbringing, environment, circumstances, and social influence.

My purpose became very clear to me in my late 20s after experiencing several impactful rock-bottom moments that crushed my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Truthfully, it wasn’t the series of breakdowns that created clarity for me, rather it was the discoveries and insights that were far more profound.

In my desperation to heal from within and improve my overall wellness, I stumbled upon holistic and natural modalities that helped ease the massive amount of stress, anxiety, and depression that robbed my joy in life and community. Those discoveries then pushed me to embark on a personal development journey that shed light on the mental and emotional trauma, pain, and limitations that held me hostage from excelling.

Committing to becoming more self-aware of my patterns, habits, behaviors, reactions, and baggage allowed me to gain more clarity on what was working for my life and what wasn’t. This created a snowball effect and it motivated me to become a better version of myself which then inspired me to assist others. Through this process, I became passionate about sharing with others how I was able to conquer toxic relationships, panic attacks, suicidal depression, and chronic illness.

Now 10 years later from the initial series of breakdowns, I’ve come to realize and feel confident that my purpose is to heal from generational trauma, and women’s collective pain, and guide/teach others how to do the same if they feel called to.
Because people naturally gravitate towards you and want your assistance when you’re joyfully living in alignment with your purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Since 2020, I’ve been heavily focusing on providing a safe space in-person and online for women to reconnect with themselves. I love to see women discover who the f*ck they are and embody their innate gift of healing, transforming, and living a purpose-driven life.

This urge to create the Wooniversity For Women, came from a divine download I got at 3 am on night.
I knew that I needed to be of service and assist other women who were ready to become a better version of themselves.

My teachings and modalities encompass psychology, somatic therapy, sound healing, energy healing, human design, and metaphysics. I love hosting retreats, seminars, masterclasses, and certifying folks on Reiki in-person and online.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1) Self-awareness: through introspection, I was able to discover what thoughts and habits were holding me back in a place of shame, guilt, and pain. Once, it was evident what wasn’t working then I was able to shift towards learning new knowledge to help me acquire who I wanted to be and what I wanted to experience in all sectors of my life.

2) Personal Development: via the teachings of Psychology, Somatic Therapy, and Spirituality I was able to expand my mental and emotional horizons through nurturing my inner child and learning how to reparent myself so I can feel safer in this world and my being.

3) Forgiveness: for myself and others liberated from feeling unworthy of experiencing genuine and authentic feelings of joy, happiness, and fulfillment.

In all honesty, there are days that it becomes a painful process. However, I once heard that life is tough and you have a choice to either endure the pain of growth or the pain of stagnancy.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Give myself permission to step away from the task, thought, and/or person I’m dealing with. I’ve realized that when I feel overwhelmed it’s clear biofeedback from my mind and body to take a moment to regroup and recenter myself. Often, we’re shamed, peer pressured, and guilt-tripped into continuing the task at hand while being overwhelmed.

Over the years, I’ve done my best to give myself permission to pause and recenter myself because nothing good nor higher-level problem-solving has resulted from continuing anything with the feeling of overwhelm.
