We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Geo Louis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Geo , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
A lot of people don’t know that I was a musician, singer, and songwriter first. I started performing and writing music with adults at a really young age, and by 15, I was already in rooms where I had to put myself out there in a big way. When you’re that young and surrounded by people with way more experience, you don’t really have the luxury of overthinking—you just have to step up. That forced me to shed a layer of fear early on and take risks creatively, socially, and professionally.
That experience shaped how I approach risk in everything I do, but I also believe life comes in phases. Just because I learned to take risks at a young age doesn’t mean I don’t still go through moments where I feel that hesitation. Even now, there are times when I have to talk myself through it and remind myself that every move I’ve made—whether in music or in building Bartelier—started with a leap. Risk doesn’t always get easier, but you do get better at trusting yourself through it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Geo Louis, and I run Bartelier, a bar and beverage event concept that brings high-end craft cocktails and immersive bar experiences to private events, brand activations, and weddings in Los Angeles and beyond. At its core, Bartelier is about elevating the art of drinking—not just making great cocktails, but creating moments that bring people together in a way that feels intentional and special.
What I love most about what we do is how it promotes togetherness. These days, we’re so used to socializing in ways that can actually be a little isolating—half on our phones, half present, or in spaces that don’t really encourage connection. With Bartelier, we want to change that. Whether it’s a perfectly crafted cocktail, a beautifully designed bar, or just the right atmosphere, it’s all about making people feel engaged, welcome, and in the moment.
Right now, we’re expanding in some exciting ways, we’ve just added a shop to our site and we’re working on a line of cocktail essentials, starting with our Cocktail Grade Matcha, perfect for making our signature Matcha Martini at home. We’re also continuing to push the boundaries of cocktail and bar presentation, experimenting with custom garnishes, ice, tools—all the little details that turn a drink into an experience.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Honestly, we’re still early on in the journey. Bartelier is growing, and I’m still learning every day. For anyone starting out, I’d say: trusting the process, staying curious, and embracing uncertainty. It’s easy to get caught up in wanting everything to be perfect from the start, but what I’m realizing is growth happens in the in-between—the moments where you take a chance, make mistakes, and learn from them. The best things come from moving forward, even when you don’t have all the answers. Keep showing up, keep refining your craft, and keep pushing toward what excites you.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely, we’re always looking to collaborate—whether it’s with other people in our industry, creatives who share our vision, or brands that make interesting bar products that elevate what we do and add something unique to the experience. Bartelier is all about pushing the boundaries of cocktails and hospitality, so we love working with those who bring fresh ideas, interesting ingredients, or innovative tools to the table.
If you’re a brand, bartender, designer, or someone who sees the art in what we do and wants to create something special together, let’s talk. Reach out via our social channels: @bartelier.co or email us at [email protected]—we’re always up for exploring new ideas.
