Meet Geolaina Copeland

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Geolaina Copeland a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Geolaina, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

My generosity is deeply rooted in the love and care I received as a child. Growing up in poverty, I often faced limitations and hardships. However, the selfless acts of love and support from family members, mentors, and my community made a profound impact on me. These individuals planted seeds of kindness and generosity in my life, showing me that caring and giving have no limitations except those we place on ourselves.

Through their actions, I witnessed the true heart of those around me and experienced the love of God in a tangible way. These experiences not only gave me hope but also helped to develop my character. I learned that even in the midst of scarcity, there is always something to give, whether it’s time, kindness, or resources.

Their generosity instilled in me a deep desire to pay it forward and show the same love and care to others. It’s a cycle of giving that I am honored to be a part of, and it continuously reminds me of the power of compassion and community.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am Jo Copeland—an author, speaker, educator, and trainer. The heart of my work lies in my deep desire to see people healed, set free, and delivered. I believe that my mission in this season is to heal the land. Whether it’s through my new Christian book, Broken Legacies, speaking engagements, or educational programs, my heart is dedicated to helping people become the best versions of themselves.
What excites me the most about my work is witnessing the transformation that takes place when people find healing. When we are healed, we function better and can more fully embrace and share the love of Jesus Christ. My journey is not just about imparting knowledge or delivering a message; it’s about touching lives and fostering real, lasting change.
I’m thrilled to share that there are several new developments on the horizon. My book, Broken Legacies, dives deep into themes of redemption and restoration, and I’ve been receiving incredible feedback from readers who have found hope and healing in its pages. Additionally, I have a series of speaking engagements and workshops lined up that aim to empower and equip individuals to overcome their past and embrace their future with confidence and faith.
Through every endeavor, my goal remains the same: to see people whole, thriving, and living out their God-given potential. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to continuing to make a difference together.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, three qualities have been particularly impactful: resilience, empathy, and continuous learning.

1. Resilience: Life has thrown many challenges my way, and it was my resilience that helped me navigate through them. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep moving forward, no matter how tough the circumstances. To develop resilience, embrace your struggles as opportunities for growth. Don’t shy away from adversity; instead, face it head-on with a mindset that you will emerge stronger. Surround yourself with a support system that encourages and uplifts you. Remember, resilience is not about never falling down—it’s about getting back up every time you do.

2. Empathy: Understanding and relating to the experiences of others has been crucial in my work. Empathy allows us to connect on a deeper level and offer genuine support. To cultivate empathy, practice active listening and put yourself in others’ shoes. Volunteer, engage in community service, and seek out diverse perspectives. By doing so, you’ll develop a greater appreciation for the struggles and triumphs of those around you, making you more compassionate and effective in your interactions.

3. Continuous Learning: The pursuit of knowledge and personal growth has been a cornerstone of my journey. Whether through formal education, reading, or life experiences, continuous learning keeps us adaptable and innovative. For those early in their journey, prioritize lifelong learning. Stay curious and open-minded, seek out mentors, and never stop asking questions. Embrace both successes and failures as valuable lessons, and strive to better yourself each day.

Advice for those early in their journey:

Stay Persistent: Success doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient and keep pushing forward, even when progress seems slow.
Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with people who believe in you and your vision. Their encouragement and advice will be invaluable.
Embrace Change: Be open to new experiences and willing to adapt. Growth often requires stepping out of your comfort zone.
Your journey will be unique, filled with its own set of challenges and triumphs. By focusing on resilience, empathy, and continuous learning, you’ll be well-equipped to navigate whatever comes your way. Keep faith in your abilities, stay committed to your goals, and remember that every step you take is a valuable part of your story.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
