We caught up with the brilliant and insightful George Arvanitidis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
George, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I actually see that as my biggest privilege—and one of the strongest weapons in my arsenal. In the art world, being unique is the ultimate goal. A lot of people feel the need to fit in with the crowd, but I’ve always disagreed with that. For me, standing apart has been the foundation of my career.
Of course, when you’re just starting, it’s normal to borrow ideas or inspiration from others until you find your own voice—but staying in that space too long becomes a trap. I’ve seen too many artists fall into the cycle of imitation, and it doesn’t take you far in the long run.
That’s why I’ve embraced not looking like anyone else in the room. It has shaped my path in a powerful way. I truly believe that this “difference” isn’t a disadvantage—it’s a privilege. And building my career around who I authentically am is the best decision I could ever make.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is George Arvanitidis, and I was born in Greece into a culture overflowing with music, theatre, and art—things that shaped me long before I realized they would define my life. From an early age, I was drawn to expressing myself through sound and performance, and that passion grew from a personal journey into a professional calling. At just 15, I won first prize in a national student singing competition in Greece. This early recognition fueled my confidence to pursue music seriously, leading me to move to London to study and develop my talent.
I hold a Diploma in Vocals, a Master’s degree in Ancient History of Art from the University of Oxford, and I’m a graduate of Drama School. This diverse background gives me a deep understanding of performance, storytelling, and the nuances of expression.
I’ve released three singles so far, that reflect different sides of who I am: the rock anthem Hold On, the soulful R&B track Living in Fear, and the tropical Latin house song Trip in My Mind. Together, they showcase an artist who embraces a diversity of sound while staying authentic to his voice. I’ve performed on stages across Los Angeles, London, and Greece, including standout events like The Los Angeles Fashion Week and The Los Angeles Bachata Festival.
Beyond music, I’ve also built a career in acting. I’ve appeared in commercials, movies, TV shows, and stand-up comedy performances, experiences that have sharpened my stage presence and storytelling skills. Acting allows me to explore new facets of expression and brings a complementary dimension to my artistry.
Now living in Los Angeles, I’m currently preparing a full album that will bring my singles and new creations together into a single story.
No matter how far I go, at heart I’m still that kid who fell in love with music in Greece. The stages may be bigger now and the audience wider, but my mission remains the same: to connect with people through emotion, honesty, and the raw power of sound.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, awareness, and love.
Resilience is crucial because the path to a creative career is filled with rejection and challenges. It’s a constant test of your will.
Awareness is about knowing your strengths and weaknesses, understanding your market, and recognizing all the tools and skills you can acquire to support your passion.
Finally, love is the most important of all. It’s the deep-seated passion that fuels everything else. If you don’t genuinely love what you’re doing, you won’t have the drive to be resilient or the discipline to be aware.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to nurture these three things. First, never let go of the love that sparked your journey. Let that passion be your compass and your greatest motivator. Second, be relentlessly aware. Be a student of your craft and your industry. Learn new skills, seek out opportunities, and understand that your love for art can become a sustainable profession.
Lastly, be resilient and patient. Nothing comes easy in life, especially dreams that require you to put yourself out there for recognition. It’s a tough road, but if you have that unwavering belief and a deep love for what you do, it is absolutely worth it.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always open to collaborating with fellow artists. I’ve always believed that art isn’t a selfish game; it’s an ecosystem that thrives on connection and partnership. To create something truly special, you need a diverse group of people with unique skills and visions.
I’m specifically looking for artists who refuse to be put in a box. My love for uniqueness draws me to people who are authentic and different—creators who believe deeply in what they’re doing and aren’t interested in copying mainstream trends.
Whether it’s music, acting, or writing, I’m always ready to collaborate in any art form I’m involved in. The best way for artists to connect with me is through my social media. I’m very active on Instagram, and you can find me at @George_Arvanitidis. I’m always a DM away for the next collaboration, so feel free to reach out.
