Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to George Esteban. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi George, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
Typically I’ll stop writing and will try to seek new adventures and escapades with friends and write about that.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My main music project is called The Wine Club, it consists of myself (Guitar) Fabian Perez (Bass) and Francisco Benvenuti (Percussion). Together, we play classic rock&roll with a modern spin! We’re not reinventing the wheel, we’re trying to show our audiences the very specific nuances of what electric guitar based music can do. In other words… “rock&rolls not dead, you just weren’t looking hark enough.”
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Lots of musicians have a talent playing their instruments individually-yes, but, playing in a group and listening to your band mates is whole other conversation in itself. We try very hard to rehearse in a way where we’re actively listening to each other because we do a lot of improvisational work on stage. Also having the right kinds of people on stage with you that have the same kind of chemistry helps a lot.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always on the looking out for other creatives and artists that have similar styles to us because at the end of the day it’s all about creating community from music. Let’s get together and set up a show or even record together!
