Meet Georgia Sheridan

We recently connected with Georgia Sheridan and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Georgia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Before I was a photographer, I was a dancer. That world is tough. You get a lot of no’s and still show up. Doing that taught me resilience: rehearse, adjust, try again. I learned to take feedback without taking it personally, to trust my craft, and to stay calm under pressure. Those habits serve me on wedding days – moving quickly, reading the room, solving problems in real time, and still making something beautiful. For me, resilience is repetition with heart. The couples I photograph keep me steady and remind me why the work matters.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a wedding photographer based in NYC. My work lives at the intersection of art and service: calm direction, honest storytelling, and images that feel nostalgic yet current. I photograph everything from city-hall “just us” vows to destination weekends. What feels most special to me is the mix of presence and problem-solving. Weddings move fast and real life doesn’t pause for perfect conditions. I have to adapt quickly and protect the experience so people can be fully in their day while I make photographs that hold onto the feeling. Clients tell me they remember how relaxed they felt which matters more to me than the final gallery.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Great images come from trust. Clear expectations, thoughtful timelines, and steady updates keep everyone relaxed—and relaxed people photograph beautifully. Client-first communication means being clear, calm, and a step ahead. I set expectations early – how to reach me, when I’ll reply, and what happens next. I send proactive check-ins at key moments so clients never have to chase info. Simple templates (welcome, timeline, week-of, gallery delivery) keep things consistent, while kind, direct phrasing keeps everyone relaxed and on time. The result is trust: people feel taken care of, and that ease shows up in the photos.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Atomic Habits sold me on tiny moves over big promises. The key takeaways for me were identity-based habits, building simple systems instead of waiting for motivation, and stack small habits so they happen automatically. I also set up my space so the easy choice is the right one – gear ready, inbox tidy, edit flow set. Those small gains add up to calmer work days, smoother client interactions, and better work.
