We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gerald Johnson . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gerald below.
Gerald, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
My creativity is always been my super power growing up. I’m a fan of using your imagination to the fullest, and executing those ideas. Life is all about molding your concepts into your reality. Through my life whenever I’ve had to overcome any obstacle, I’ve literally been able to create a solution! I’m inspired by my environment & love to travel to restore my creative buzz & ideas. I encourage my team & friends daily to pour into their creativity & paint the world w/ their thoughts & ideas as well. All in all NEVER stop creating, wether it’s drawing, songwriting, taking photos; whatever gets your creative juices going do it!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a fashion designer, photographer & all around creative. Over the years I’ve been in the world of entertainment based here in Atlanta. Through that world I’ve been able to work with build several brands in the music & fashion space. Years before I created my own brand Rich Friends Club, I was assisting other popular street wear brands. I had become a liaison for these fashion labels & their relationships with celebrities. During this process I fell in love w/ the idea of being able to create garments & then place them on certain individuals to bring them to life. So for the last year I’ve used my experience and love of photography & design to usher my brand to the next world. Rich Friends Club was created to bridge the gap between friendship & entrepreneurship. I believe that a powerful circle of friends working together can make any idea mainstream & profitable. RFC is a community of people who enjoy sharing & building with like minded individuals! We all believe “What’s better than one rich friend?..2!”
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three skills that have helped me were my ability to be an excellent communicator, my love for detail & design & my skill of marketing. I believe that when you set out with an idea you must be able to effectively communicate that to your audience. So I encourage anyone on a path of creating to be able to deliver your message clearly & directly. This is key is holding your value in the market space you’re entering. Also my ability to see the very small things has served me well in business. Pay attention to everything that w involves your brand, nothing is to small or big for you to not take notice of. This will make sure that you are always playing at the top of your game & your audience will appreciate that. Finally my ability to market my product across socially media, has helped elevate my game as well. Marketing is the key ingredient of success, you just master it to a degree to really get your brand it’s just due. If it’s not natural for you, bring people on your team that can execute your messaging properly.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Rich Friends Club is expanding & scaling this year & we’d love to bring on new models for campaigns stylist & designers. If anyone is reading this & want to collaborate please email us your portfolio to [email protected]
