Meet Geraldine Andre-Major

We recently connected with Geraldine Andre-Major and have shared our conversation below.

Geraldine, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose in life after finding out that my three-year-old was diagnosed with Autism and being non-verbal. When I found out about his diagnoses, a light went off in my mind and a fire started burning in my spirit, it was like I was on a mission, and I was ready to get to work. When my son started showing signs on speech regression, I realized that I had to be his voice, and an advocate for his wants and needs in society. I took on this role with pride and an eagerness to get to work. And at that moment, I felt like I was born again. I wanted to tell his story that even though society labeled him as non-verbal Autistc, he still enjoyed playing, building, jumping, dancing, and eating cookies like any other child. Through Maverick’s Eyes: (come on a journey through a non-verbal boys world) is the title of my feel-good story that I wrote about my son, but is a must read for all ages. Writing his story with my husband helped me process and understand what ASD is. And, also, I wanted to portray my son as being fun, loving, and happy. I have three children; Maximillian 9, Marley 8, and Maverick is 3 !/2, and they all add unique qualities that make up our Major Family, and I thank God for this blessing every day.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
First, and foremost I am a child of God. He blessed me with Two AMAZING parents who have the laid foundation for me, to follow my dreams. Being a parent now, I NOW realize how much my parents have sacrificed and provided for me and my siblings, and I am forever grateful to them. I grew up in a home with my Haitian parents who instilled the value of hard work, and to always trust myself.

What I do is…I DO MOTHERHOOD
Being a mother, is a title that I wear with pride, being a mother is a unique and complex experience that can be difficult to define. It involves a range of emotions, responsibilities, and challenges that are often difficult to put into words. Being a mother involves a lot of hard work and sacrifice. It means being there for your children through the good times and the bad, and providing them with love, support, and guidance. It also means making tough decisions and doing what is best for your children, even when it is not easy.
However, it is also one of the most fulfilling and meaningful experiences that a person can have in their lifetime.

I Do Entrepreneurship,
So during Pandemic in 2020, I started my Entreprenurial journey, and self- published my first children’s book, and it was a success. I was so nervous, but also very proud of this accomplishment. That I decided to do it again, and again., So My husband, Maurice and I decided that this was a great opportunity to start our book publishing company: Major & Major Publishing LLC. Currently to date we have Three children’s books, two cookbooks, and a self-help book.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that were impactful for me in my journey were, faith, disciple, and patience. Being discipled helped me stay focused on my goals and maintained a consistent work ethic. It also helped me prioritize my tasks and make the most out of my time.

Patience is important because it takes time to build a successful business. Being a stay-at-home mom and running a business may sound like the dream opportunity for most but it takes ALOT of patience. Having three kids and one with special needs, I am being pulled in all directions, and I already know that things are going to happen along the journey. And being an entrepreneur, I give myself Grace and patience. when tin the process of achieving my goals.

Faith is also important because it helped me to stay motivated and focused on my vision. My Faith in God is important for me because at challenging times it provided me a sense of hope and optimism. It gave me the confidence to take risks to overcome obstacles.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest areas of growth over the past 12 months has been to bet on myself.

Learning to trust myself has been a valuable lesson that I have learned in being an entrepreneur. I have gained valuable insight into my own abilities, and I have learned to rely on my own judgment. Which has become a crucial trait for entrepreneurs, who often have to make important decisions without the guidance of others. It is also a valuable lesson for anyone who wants to succeed in life, as self-confidence and self-reliance are key components of success.

Learning to bet on myself can be a difficult process, but it is essential for personal growth and development. It involves developing a sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance, as well as learning to recognize my own strengths and weaknesses. By doing so I’ve gained a greater sense of control over my own life and have become more confident in my ability to achieve my goals.
