We recently connected with Gerri Lindsay and have shared our conversation below.
Gerri, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from knowing that life doesn’t wait. At 18, my family survived a devastating car accident. Our SUV flipped multiple times, landing upside down. Emergency crews had to saw the vehicle in half to get my parents out. They were airlifted to the hospital almost two hours away from where the accident happened, and in the middle of that chaos, I had to keep my siblings safe and figure out what to do next—all while struggling to remember my last name.
Four months later, I booked my first national campaign. Out of 20,000 submissions, I was one of about eight women chosen—the youngest there.
If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that as fast as life moves on to the next—so do you. Feel your feelings, give yourself time to process, and then move on. The more you sit in the negative, the harder it is to keep going. I choose optimism because, at the end of the day, the only way out is through.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Gerri—a model, actress, and publicist. I gravitate toward spaces and projects that feel good, not just for me but for the people they impact. I believe that my higher purpose is to bring people together and uplift voices from all walks of life.
As a publicist, I focus on elevating nonprofits that prioritize human rights. PR, etc… was built to empower these organizations by cutting through the noise and getting its message to the right people.
In today’s social and political climate, where division feels more present than ever, unity is imperative. The work I do, whether through storytelling, advocacy, or media, is about creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and connected. Because when we come together, real change happens.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There is no one on this planet who can do what you do—or walk the exact path you’re on. Stop seeking validation from people who can’t even imagine chasing the kind of goals you’re striving for. Their fears are not your reality, so don’t let them dictate your choices.
Realize that nothing is ever that deep. Every setback, every moment of doubt—it all passes. And at the end of the day, you are the center of your own life. Keep it that way.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My biggest challenge right now is loving myself out loud—not in the sense of bragging, but in truly honoring the commitments I’ve made to myself. That means following through on my promises, not procrastinating so I can reduce stress, nourishing my body with good food, and redefining what self-love looks like for me. It’s less about grand gestures and more about the quiet discipline of showing up for myself every day.
