Gherald, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Overcoming Adversity and Pursuing Dreams:

From a young age, faced with bullying and limited resources, I learned the invaluable lessons of self-belief and perseverance. These experiences shaped my character and fueled my determination to succeed.

Despite lacking formal training, I developed a natural talent for sports and pursued my passion with unwavering dedication. By taking on additional responsibilities like a paper route, I demonstrated a strong work ethic and resourcefulness, ultimately achieving my goal of owning athletic equipment.

Entering high school, I sought out challenges and opportunities to compete at a higher level. My participation in sports and extracurricular activities, such as acting, allowed me to explore my abilities and discover new passions.
While pursuing an acting career in New York City, I encountered obstacles related to my ethnicity and appearance. Stereotyped as an “Foreigner /Exotic American/Asian/Hispanic Guy,” I faced limitations in the roles offered to me. However, I refused to let these biases define my path. I am your All-American guy with many talents.

With unwavering determination, I continued to pursue my dreams and landed acting gigs that showcased my versatility and talent. My goal was to break free from stereotypes and portray authentic, non-stereotypical characters.

Through my experiences, I learned that adversity can be a powerful catalyst for growth and achievement. By embracing challenges, believing in myself, and working tirelessly towards my goals, I was able to overcome obstacles and carve my own path. My story serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of never giving up on your dreams.

Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the resilience and determination of my parents as they navigated a world filled with prejudice and stereotypes. Their unwavering belief in me, even in the face of adversity, instilled in me a deep-rooted sense of self-worth and a relentless pursuit of my dreams.

Despite the lack of representation in the entertainment industry during my childhood, my parents encouraged me to pursue my passion for acting. Their unwavering support and belief in my abilities fueled my determination to break down barriers and create a space for myself and others in the entertainment industry.

The journey to establish Talent & Skills has been a collaborative effort, made possible by the incredible individuals who have joined me along the way. My business partner, family, friends, employees / team, talents, and clients have provided invaluable support, contributing their skills and expertise to our shared vision; especially our friends from the International Film Festival Manhattan and Jaycees (JCI).

To succeed in this industry, it is essential to believe in yourself, invest in your growth, and surround yourself with positive, like-minded individuals.
