Meet Gianna Gomez

We recently connected with Gianna Gomez and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Gianna with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Growing up as a professional actress and dancer since age 5, I’ve learned to perfect my craft and put in 110%. My strong work ethic comes from my parents, teachers, and mentors, who instilled in me a focused, determined, and positive mindset. My parents always taught me to surround myself with individuals who are better and stronger than me to challenge myself. This method has taught me how to be adaptable, work hard, and better myself. Also, I skipped 3 grades and graduated college May 2024 at 20 years old and will be pursuing my MBA Fall 2024. I am a creative problem solver with professional communication skills, thrive under pressure, and am persistent in achieving my goals.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Gianna Gomez, 20 years old, born and raised in Santa Clarita, California. Since the age of five, I’ve been a professional actress and dancer, working on commercials, TV shows, movies, games, and more. I attended Chapman University, where I studied Business Administration with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship. I graduated in May 2024 and will pursue my MBA starting in Fall 2024.

At 16, during my senior year of high school in 2020, I started a business called A Yard Card Party. Inspired by the challenges of COVID, I aimed to uplift spirits and celebrate events innovatively with customizable yard card signs. By filling a market gap, my business has provided a unique way to bring joy and celebration to my community. I’ve helped many families, schools, nonprofits, and individuals celebrate birthdays, graduations, baby showers, school events, custom events, and more. My goal at a young age was to be ahead of the curve and have real-world experience going into college.

What excites me most is the sense of community my signs bring. I love being part of my community and seeing the smiles on people’s faces. The photo opportunities my signs provide create lasting memories. The customizable aspect allows each event to be uniquely special. My favorite part of running A Yard Card Party is the marketing aspect, where I can creatively engage with my community and showcase the joy my signs bring. I also love meeting new people and am incredibly grateful that individuals trust me to help celebrate their special events.

One of the biggest challenges for me personally has been scheduling. Managing each client and creating an efficient, organized system was a significant challenge initially, requiring a lot of effort to streamline and make sense of the process.

My small business has also helped me solidify my communication and professional skills, bridging my academic knowledge with real-world experience. Also, my business has given me the opportunity to support myself throughout college. My goal is to become an executive producer and studio executive, and my business has been a creative outlet that uplifts my entrepreneurial spirits while honing my business skills.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my parents, sister and family. They’ve been instrumental in supporting my journey with this business, assisting with the startup, and being there for me through thick and thin. I cannot thank them enough.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has supported A Yard Card Party. I hope to continue celebrating many more events around my community.

Much love,
Gianna Gomez

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Thorough industry research is essential, covering market dynamics, demographics, and understanding your target audience. To solidify the way you structure and run your business is crucial. Personally, refining my method of taking and receiving orders was
a process of trial and error, evolving over time. Critical to success is grasping operational management and costs. Dedication and persistence are pivotal, ensuring unwavering commitment to your passion. Utilize accessible internet resources to enrich industry knowledge, refine tools, and develop business strategies. Maintain focus with clearly articulated goals to sustain motivation and purpose throughout your journey, with passion always at the core.

Innovation plays a crucial role; identifying how your product fills a gap in the market is key. Assessing and benchmarking your business against existing competitors helps analyze strengths and areas for improvement. This comparative analysis informs strategic decisions and ensures your business remains competitive and relevant. Regularly updating your understanding through research and benchmarking ensures continuous growth and adaptation in the marketplace.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

Firstly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents, Gina and Jeff, and my younger sister, Jayden. They have been an indispensable support system throughout this journey, and I couldn’t have done it without their unwavering love and encouragement.

I believe in the value of being well-rounded and continuously strengthening a diverse range of skills. Embracing this approach demonstrates adaptability and a willingness to take risks, rather than settling for comfort. Innovation and standing out have always been priorities for me, as they open doors and propel personal growth. In today’s dynamic world, staying ahead of trends and evolving methodologies is crucial to remaining competitive.

My experience in acting and dancing has been a testament to the benefits of being well-rounded. It has equipped me with skills in professionalism, business acumen, effective communication, thriving under pressure, navigating fast-paced environments, maintaining resilience, fostering creativity, and embracing vulnerability. These skills are applicable across various domains and have enriched my capabilities in both personal and professional pursuits.

As I aim to achieve my goal of becoming an executive producer and studio executive, it’s essential to be a versatile individual capable of managing and coordinating diverse teams and understanding various roles.
