Meet Gica Pucca

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gica Pucca. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gica, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

To me, resilience is an everyday practice. When it comes to the entertainment industry, your biggest enemy is often yourself. After all, actors work with their body, mind and soul to give life to character, and this job can get extremely personal, clouded by self doubt and contaminated by lack of motivation.

A daily routine helps you keep track of your journey. My best advice for artists is: find something that roots you to the present moment, keeps you far away from future insecurities and maintains your creative process always going forward.

The key is to remind yourself that you must practice everyday, much like an athlete, whether inspiration strikes or not, whether it will take you minutes or hours of your day.

Do it everyday a little bit, and that will lead you to success.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

For the readers of Bold Journey who are hearing about me for the first time, my name is Gica Pucca and I am an actress, performer, writer, director and producer inside the Hollywood film industry.

With almost a decade of practice of my craft, I’ve had the honor to had worked in titles like “Ascalapha” (2021) / dir. by Gabriel Misaki; “Saudade” (2024) and “Project 405: Lost at Sea” (2024) / both dir. by Josie Hull; “Last Encore” (2024) / dir. by Micha J. Adams, and the most recent, “Yesterday’s Tomorrow” (2024) / dir. by Michael Prieto; collecting a total of 8 wins and 25 nominations in international film festivals.

What makes me unique as performer is my circus background, my affinity to dance and my passion for medieval scenarios.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

listen, breathe and enjoy. I believe thay are all skills that should be trained, and they are not that simple to master.

Art is not something you can control or rationally comprehend in my world view. At the end of the day, to be a performer, is nothing more than to listen to the people around you, breath throughout your action and enjoy the little things and circumstances around you.

An artist needs to learn how to navigate life around them, and our best compass is to be present.

Meditate, run, sing, dance, put you body in motion. Creative solutions come from creative actions.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Invisible Actor by Yoshi Oida has played a major role in my development as an artist.

The concept of “Invisible Acting” where the actor becomes a vessel for the character, allowing the audience to focus on the performance rather than the actor’s technique;

The importance of presence, which is the ability to fully inhabit the moment on stage; and learning how to balancing control and surrender, allowing authenticity and spontaneity flourish, keeping the performance alive and engaging.

Those are the most valuable nuggets of knowledge a reader should look for in this book.
