Meet Gigi Jirapolchet

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gigi Jirapolchet. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gigi, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I believe my work ethic is deeply rooted in my upbringing. Growing up with a single mom, I saw firsthand what resilience and determination look like. My mom worked tirelessly, often wearing multiple hats, to make sure our family had everything we needed. She not only provided for us but also ran her own catering and sauce business, which I often helped with.

Watching her navigate challenges with grace taught me that success doesn’t come without hard work and commitment. It also ingrained in me the belief that work ethic isn’t just about showing up; it’s about going above and beyond, staying consistent, and finding pride in what you do. For me, it’s become a core part of who I am and how I approach both my personal and professional life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’d love to share a bit about my journey and the work I’m passionate about. Growing up, I watched my mom pour her heart into her catering and sauce business, and it inspired me to be entrepreneurial from a young age. Recently, I’ve been fortunate enough to help her launch NamjaiKitchen.com, which brings the bold and authentic flavors of Thailand to people’s homes through our Thai sauces and seasonings. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to see her dream reach a broader audience.

Professionally, I’ve also dedicated myself to helping small and medium-sized businesses navigate the complexities of launching and growing their digital presence. Eight years ago, I founded my marketing agency, Defined Content, out of a need for a boutique marketing and e-commerce agency tailored to businesses looking for a more personalized approach. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping over 100 businesses successfully build and scale their online presence, guiding them through everything from strategy to execution. Empowering entrepreneurs and seeing their dreams come to life has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

Most excitingly, I’m preparing to open Mercer Head Spa this winter, 2025. This venture is deeply personal to me. It was inspired by my own struggles with migraines and scalp health due to autoimmune conditions. After experiencing the transformative relief of Japanese Head Spa treatments in NYC, I knew I wanted to bring that same care and innovation to my greater Seattle community in Mercer Island, WA. Mercer Head Spa combines wellness, relaxation, and self-care, offering a unique sanctuary for those seeking rejuvenation.

Through these ventures, I aim to connect with people, solve problems, and share experiences that matter. Whether it’s supporting my mom’s business, helping entrepreneurs build theirs, or providing a space for self-care, I’m driven by a desire to make an impact. I’m incredibly excited about what’s ahead and hope to keep expanding my reach in meaningful ways.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey, I’ve found that three key qualities have been most impactful: having strong interpersonal skills, maintaining a positive personality, and leading with empathy. These traits have been invaluable, whether I was climbing the corporate ladder in digital marketing or navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship. Building the right connections and communicating effectively with people are crucial for success in any field. Relationships matter, and they’re often the foundation for growth and opportunities.

Another piece of advice is to establish a strong work-life balance early on. Whether you’re launching a business or starting a new role, always remember that your health should come first. It’s easy to get caught up in the demands of work, but finding a hobby or passion outside of your job can help prevent burnout and even enhance your performance in your role. Taking care of yourself isn’t just about self-preservation—it’s about enabling long-term success and fulfillment.”

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

As an entrepreneur and digital marketer, I’ve often faced moments of feeling overwhelmed and isolated. During Black Friday sale season, for example, the pressure of guiding clients and team members through tight deadlines can be intense. As an entrepreneur, the uncertainty of what lies ahead can feel daunting. Currently, with my latest venture, The Mercer Head Spa, I’m navigating the complexities of a full space remodel, including permitting and construction—areas that are entirely new to both my business partner and me.

To manage these challenges, I rely on a few key strategies. First, I prioritize by writing down my goals and deadlines, identifying which tasks require immediate attention. This helps me stay focused and effective. Communication is another essential tool. Early in my career, I hesitated to inform clients about deadline extensions, fearing their reaction. However, I’ve learned that proactive and transparent communication is far more appreciated than last-minute delays. Addressing issues head-on not only reduces stress but also builds trust with stakeholders.

When things feel overwhelming, I find it helpful to take a step back. Even a short break can provide clarity and renew focus. Lastly, I lean on my support system. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a strength that allows you to keep moving forward with confidence and resilience.
