Meet Gigi Turner

We recently connected with Gigi Turner and have shared our conversation below.

Gigi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

My journey to finding my purpose began in the most humble of settings. Growing up as the
eldest of 14 children on a rural farm in Brazil, life was challenging. We lived in poverty, and from
a young age, I took on the responsibility of helping my parents care for my siblings. Despite the
hardships, those early years taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of community.
My fascination with the human mind and well-being was sparked during these formative years. I
saw how stress and hardship impacted my family and community, and I was determined to find
ways to help alleviate their burdens. This determination led me to pursue a career in
psychology, eventually becoming a professor and psychotherapist.

However, the traditional methods of therapy, while effective, often felt incomplete to me. I
yearned for a more holistic approach that could address not just the mind, but the body and
spirit as well. This led me to discover sound baths in 2015 during a workshop with Greg at Singing
Bowls Immersion. The experience was nothing short of transformative. The resonant
frequencies of the singing bowls reached parts of my psyche that I had never accessed before.
It was then that I realized my true purpose: to blend my psychological expertise with the healing
power of sound. I became a certified sound bath practitioner and founded Singing Bowls of the
Rockies in Colorado Springs. Here, I created a sanctuary where individuals could experience
deep relaxation, release stress and trauma, and harmonize their entire being.

In my sound baths, I use over 100 crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, flutes, drums,
nature sounds, and many mpore unique intruments from around the world. This unique approach creates a nearly trance like vibrational journey, facilitating profound physical and emotional well-being. Seeing the positive transformations in over 5,000 participants has been incredibly fulfilling. Many report a sense of lightness and emotional release that stays with them long after the session ends.

Reflecting on my journey from a farm in rural Brazil to leading a successful sound bath practice,
I see how each step was guided by a deep-seated purpose to heal and uplift others. My
upbringing instilled in me the values of resilience and empathy, which I now channel into my
work. At Singing Bowls of the Rockies, I am committed to spreading the healing power of sound,
creating deeply restorative wellness experiences for all who seek them.

Through this journey, I found my purpose in blending the science of psychology with the ancient
practice of sound healing, creating a holistic approach to wellness that honors the body, mind,
and soul.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hello! I’m Dr. Gigi Turner, founder of Singing Bowls of the Rockies in Colorado Springs. Our
sanctuary offers a unique blend of psychology and sound healing, creating a space where
individuals can experience deep relaxation, release stress and trauma, and harmonize their
body, mind, and soul.

At Singing Bowls of the Rockies, our sound baths feature an array of over 100 crystal and
Tibetan singing bowls, along with chimes, flutes, drums, and nature sounds. Each session is
designed to create a nearly trance-like vibrational journey, allowing participants to access deep
states of relaxation and emotional release. The feedback from over 5,000 participants has been
overwhelmingly positive, with many describing a sense of lightness and well-being that stays
with them long after the session ends.

What sets our practice apart is the integration of psychological insights with the ancient art of
sound healing. My background in psychology allows me to create sessions that are not only
soothing but also deeply transformative, addressing the underlying emotional and mental
blockages that many of us carry.

We’ve been fortunate to gain recognition for our work, being featured on Fox21 News and The Gazette,
performing for TedEx in Manitou Springs, and collaborating with the Colorado Organization for
Victim Assistance. We’ve also received a Quality Business Award in 2024 and boast almost a
5-star rating on Airbnb with 172 reviews, attracting mostly tourists for our sound bath
experience.

We’re always partnering with various wellness professionals in Colorado Springs and retreats across
Colorado. We’re also launching special sound bath sessions designed for specific needs, such
as stress relief, trauma release, and enhanced creativity.

We invite everyone to join us at Singing Bowls of the Rockies to explore the transformative
power of sound. Whether you’re looking to unwind, heal, or simply experience something new,
our sound baths offer a path to deeper relaxation and well-being. Thank you for your interest in
our journey, and we look forward to welcoming you to our sanctuary.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Resilience
– Importance: Building and growing a business, especially one centered around holistic
wellness, comes with its fair share of challenges and setbacks. Resilience has been crucial in
navigating these obstacles and continuing to move forward despite difficulties.
– Advice: For those early in their journey, understand that setbacks are a natural part of any
endeavor. Embrace them as learning opportunities. Cultivate a mindset that views challenges as
temporary hurdles rather than permanent roadblocks. Building resilience takes time, so be
patient with yourself.

2. Empathy and Listening Skills
– Importance: As a sound bath practitioner, being empathetic and a good listener allows me to
connect deeply with participants, understand their needs, and create a safe, nurturing
environment. These skills are essential in fostering trust and facilitating healing.
– Advice: Develop empathy by actively listening to others and putting yourself in their shoes.
Practice mindful listening, where you focus entirely on the person speaking without formulating
your response in advance. This practice not only improves your relationships but also enhances
your ability to provide meaningful support and guidance.

3. Knowledge of Psychological Principles
– Importance: My background in psychology has been invaluable in designing sound bath
sessions that address both emotional and mental well-being. Understanding psychological
principles helps in creating experiences that are not only soothing but also deeply
transformative.

Advice: Create a manifestation routine that includes visualization, affirmations, and gratitude practices. Set clear intentions for what you wish to achieve and feel the emotions associated with those achievements as if they have already happened. Consistently practicing manifestation can align your energy with your aspirations, making them more attainable.

Final Thoughts:
For those at the beginning of their journey, I encourage you to embrace continuous learning and
personal growth. Seek out mentors, invest time in developing your skills, and remain open to
new experiences and perspectives. Each step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer
to your goals. Trust the process and stay committed to your vision.
