Meet Gilles

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gilles a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gilles , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

i am coming from a very giving, loving, generous family. My parents gave us everything we needed since we were born. My mom devoted her life for us (and still does at 80 years old). She is the woman people (from friends, to grand children, and grant grand children, to family) call to talk, to organize, to celebrate, to get positive energy. My father is the same on a totally different way. He has been always the one treating everyone at a restaurant, while traveling, bringing presents to all. Maybe why he never got rich 🙂 even if he has been successful, (to a certain degree).
my brother and sister are the same, in their own way. Then i am part of that JOY of giving pleasure to people. Creating a business world which only gives all of that to people i know and even don’t know. I really get HIGH from that.
However i am not stupid and over time, i have learned to give but not being taking advantage.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

After building a great business in fashion in my 20’s, i lost it all during the boycott of French People in AMerica in 2003.
i had to use all my Resilience to rebuild an amazing business in the event/social network world, opening the business in 17 cities around the world, Losing it again in 2020 because of COVID. It hurts i have to say. So now, i have a good experience, a network, a reputation, connections and new energy to start again. i just finished a business plan to start all over again using what i have learned and experienced, to make it bigger and stronger than ever mainly in Southern California to start with. So many people believe in me so it keeps me excited and motivated to make it happen. There is a VOID in LA which i have identified and not a problem in many other big cities. it fits me perfectly. With all this experience, i will only do what makes me happy, what i am passionate about, helping artists (painters, musicians, singers, dancers, writers, etc) living from their art, and still making money without compromising on my life style and integrity toward talents who deserve our support. They deserve it, as they are the entertainers who gives us joy, pleasure to go out, but they are rarely able to make enough money to live a decent life.
So i created a brand called Gilles Signature (mastering the art of experience). Now organizing 2 or 3 events per week but planning up to 10/15 events or more per week. It’s pretty ambitious but there is a need so i am going all the way. Looking for investors, found half of them already. Looking for more. All the hotels and restaurants are in difficulties right now on the west coast and need help to create a vibe, a soul to their place to regain momentum. This is what i am good at. And i am going to try finding the new version of Influencers who are now overrated . Social media is not what it was 3 or more years ago.
The other part of the plan is to create membership to access the events. Also helping Beverage brands to penetrate the top 20 venues in Southern california and help them reach my network (members) who will become the influencers of tomorrow, in other terms, ambassadors.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Perseverance
Genuine love of people
Passion

My advice to your readers, i may have too many advises, so let’s to get a few to start with:
Don’t follow what people are suggesting, they dont know your background. Listen but make your own conclusions.
Our parents always tell us the best they believe will be good for our lives. They are not always right.
Invest the earliest you can, small or larger amount in diverse field. Time flies.
We are living longer than our parents and grand-parents, so don’t neglect your health and prevention. you may regret it.
ONE of my most important advice as i always get the question : how come you are always happy GILLES? Of course, there are many reasons but the main reason is to surround yourself with positive, happy people. Remove the bad herbs around you. Sadly they may be old friends, 2nd degree family, colleagues etc…

Follow the 4 agreements from the book of Miguel Ruiz. This book outlines a code of conduct based on Toltec teachings that purport to improve one’s life. This book dictated my whole life since i read it in my late 20’s. I promise you, it will change everyone’s life if you follow them and keep you the happiest person in the room.
– be impeccable with your words
– do not take anything personally
– do not make assumptions
– always do your best, you will never regret anything.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

All those questions were important to me. But i choose this one for now.

The world of social media changed recently dramatically, everyone is complaining about it, algorithm, visibility, fake influencers etc…
So i decided to go back to the old fashion way, word of month, ambassadors, co-host etc for promotions, but also using new technologies and AI, to be exponential.
So i am looking for Ambassadors in LA who are working already (have a job), very busy, social, late 20’s to late 40’s, living anywhere in the city, don’t have time to plan their social life, but have many friends and don’t have time to see them. You want to expand your network for your own business or personal life. You cannot find quality places to go out and meet great people, listen to great music, going out early (because you have to wake up early) so you don’t want to go to bed too late. But you still want to enjoy a night out with a date, with friends, with colleagues. You or the company you are working with, are looking for venues to bring the employees, dinner, drinks and having good time, for outing, birthday, holiday gathering. It can be so boring to go out with co-workers, unless you have the perfect solution using Gilles Signature events where we will guarantee, good time, good venue, good quality people for a modest amount of money, everyone with their own budget.
