Meet Gina Willis

We were lucky to catch up with Gina Willis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Gina, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I stopped hiding.

I stopped downplaying how good I am at my work. We’re taught to stay humble so often that it can cloud how we see ourselves. Yes, humility matters — but so does owning who you are, owning your results, and recognizing the gift you’ve been given.

I used to describe myself as “shy.” Shortly after opening Soulful Serenity, I realized I no longer wanted that label or the way it made me feel smaller than who I knew I was inside.

In the wellness space, I often found myself in environments that weren’t very diverse, which sometimes made me question whether I truly belonged. I felt this strongly during my trauma-informed yoga teacher training. While the experience was incredible, imposter syndrome crept in hard. I was paralyzed by the fear of someone looking at me and thinking, “Why are you here?” Even leading a simple flow felt intimidating.

I hated feeling small.

So I made a decision: I would no longer shrink. Because why should I? I do hard things. Period.

That decision required action. I got back on social media — which was a struggle if you know, you know. I started showing up to more networking events and intentionally placing myself in uncomfortable situations so I could learn to shine regardless of fear or self-doubt.

Once I did that, everything changed. I stopped waiting to feel ready and started showing up anyway — online, in rooms that once intimidated me, and in spaces where I once questioned my belonging. It still warms my heart when friends or colleagues tell me they love seeing me show up. That’s how I know I’m no longer hiding. I’m fully here.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Gina Willis, a massage therapist, wellness entrepreneur, and founder of Soulful Serenity — where healing meets movement. I specialize in custom therapeutic massage, TMJ relief, and specialty treatments that help clients reduce pain, restore balance, and feel fully present in their bodies. I’m fascinated by how the body responds to therapeutic, safe touch, releasing stored stories and creating transformations like better posture, more range of motion, or simply feeling lighter. Outside of work, I’m a plant mom, gym girlie, and lover of moving my body and dilly-dallying, because life is about balance, curiosity, and joy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that shaped my journey are self-awareness, courage, and a commitment to mastery. I’ve learned to step into discomfort, keep learning, and find creative ways to show up — whether in my work, with clients, or in how I share my story. For anyone starting out: be curious, embrace challenges, invest in your skills, and trust that showing up fully is always worth it.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who values the work, shows up consistently, and is ready to prioritize their well-being — whether that means tackling chronic tension, exploring TMJ relief, or just finally making time for themselves without guilt.
