Meet Ginger Whimsy

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ginger Whimsy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Ginger, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Does anyone ever entirely? It still gets me from time to time but you have to realize there will always be someone better than you BUT you are better than someone else. I was feeling some heavy imposter syndrome at my artist residency in France last summer. Through the support of others and my faith I overcame it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Simply put I’m a multidisciplinary artist & entertainer. Many things have lead me here. What I’m currently most known for are my living statue characters. Since 2015 I’ve made nearly 30 and performed in 14 different states, Scotland, and France.

My brand is me and called Ginger Whimsy. One of my most popular characters is Rosie the Riveter. As a veteran of the Army Nation Guard, she’s one of my favorites and my way of giving back to those who made unimaginable sacrifices.

I am currently writing a one woman show and my dream, well one of many anyhow, is to do a USO tour.

Right now, the best place to find out what I’m up to is to follow me on Instagram @GingerWhimsyMke. I’m hoping to have a website with merch by late 2024/early 2025. You can also reach me via email [email protected].

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

It was only recently I came to the realization but the plays, memorization of poems & songs I did in church as a youngster was the beginning of it all. Of late I have been on a spiritual journey, finding my way back to God and that has helped immensely! I find inspiration in other artists and art forms, literature, films, nature, and the world around me. Practice every day, learn something new every day, read every day.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I LOVE COLLABORATING! I have several ideas for silent movies that I’m in various stages of writing. If you are a filmmaker particularly interested in this genre and close enough to Milwaukee, WI to travel here often or near Annapolis, MD where I am every year from late August to late October, I would love to hear from you!

I also have an idea for another statue character that I’ve had for years but need help building something. I don’t want to give that idea away here publicly.
