We were lucky to catch up with Gisela Prishker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Gisela, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I honestly think since I was a little girl , I felt very loved by my parents I will say by my all family and then friends ect , I lived my all life with so much love around me , then as I was growing people started seen my work and calling me for pictures like I mention in other interviews my first studio was at the High school ladies room , my friend Lupita was my assistant /promoter /security because i was not supposed to e doing business at school and use the ladies room as my stdio all was a secret because they loved me , they ever find out .
I also think my photography teacher saw in me a lot of potential and he told me Photography has to be your mayor you have talent and a great eye , so yeah i guess i was a little bit over confident , and I am glad i was like that because i never felt insecure about anything in my life .
I think I have things that i can better myself , but i am working on it .
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I had a beautiful studio in Pasadena that I had to close due to the Pandemia like many other people , but I never stoped taking pictures but I changed many things and services I used to shoot wedding , family portraits , babies ect but I realized I didn’t really enjoyed it as much as I enjoy portraits & Boudoir I love making people look and feel great , I love styling the shoots , work with the make up artist , you know I meet a lot of beautiful people that are so insecure so if I can inject them a little bit of confidence thats so rewarding for me I love love love helping people in many ways Rigth now i am focused in several things and all of them helping people in many ways I am working in my Fine Art work called mask , and i only shoot 4 clients a month , I am no longer available for events , weddings, or family portraits I am only shooting Boudoir & Portraits and aging Fabolous portraiture .
I love help capturing the elderly I have seen many beautiful people aging great and love capturing that , why not seen a beautiful portrait of your mom , dad , grandma or grandpa looking fantastic on the 60s, 70 , 90s , who cares i love capturing beauty at any age.
I also have a career that is so rewarding I help senior to find places to live and believe me is fantastic so rewarding I love it I get to work in two of my passions , Helping people and Photography.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe the three most impactful qualities for success in this field are:
Empathy and understanding – the ability to connect with and understand the needs and wants of my clients is crucial in creating a comfortable and safe environment for them to be vulnerable in.
Technical skills – knowing how to use and manipulate different lighting techniques and camera settings to create the desired mood and feel in a photograph is crucial in producing high-quality images.
Creativity and artistic vision – having a unique and distinct style and approach to my photography sets me apart from others and allows me to tell a story through my images.
For those early in their journey as a boudoir photographer, my advice would be to practice and develop their technical skills by experimenting with different lighting and camera settings. Additionally, I would advise to study and learn from different photographers and art movements, to develop a unique and personal style. Finally, to work on building empathy and understanding by having a good communication with clients, to understand their needs and make them feel comfortable and safe during the shoot.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
As a boudoir photographer, my ideal client is someone who is looking to empower themselves through the art of photography. They are confident in their own skin and are looking to capture a moment in time that they can look back on and remember how beautiful they felt.
An ideal client for me is someone who is open-minded, willing to try new poses and ideas, and is excited to work with me to create a unique and personalized experience. They are someone who values the art of photography and understands the importance of capturing memories.
In addition to that, I would say that my ideal client is someone who is comfortable with their own body and is not afraid to show their vulnerability in front of the camera. They are someone who is open to exploring and expressing their sensuality and who is seeking to celebrate their femininity in a safe and comfortable environment.
Ultimately, my ideal client is someone who is looking for a memorable and empowering experience, and I am excited to be able to provide that for them through my photography.
as a Portrait photographer, my ideal client is someone who is passionate about capturing meaningful and timeless memories of themselves or their loved ones. They are looking for a unique and personalized experience that goes beyond just taking a snapshot. They value the art of photography and understand the importance of having a professional photograph that they can treasure for a lifetime.
My ideal client is someone who is open to exploring different poses, locations and ideas, and who is excited to collaborate with me to create a one-of-a-kind portrait that truly reflects their personality and spirit.
In addition to that, my ideal client is someone who is comfortable in front of the camera and is willing to be vulnerable and open during the photo shoot. They understand that the best photographs come from genuine emotions and connections.
Furthermore, I appreciate clients who are open-minded, respectful, easy going and who are willing to be flexible, as this allows us to create the best photographs possible.
Ultimately, my ideal client is someone who is looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience, and I am excited to be able to provide that for them through my photography.
