Meet GlenNeta Griffin

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to GlenNeta Griffin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

GlenNeta, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
This is a really good question. I believe I found my purpose over time. Evolving and through life experiences. This is one of the most difficult things people struggle with. What is my purpose? Why am I here? But it is one of the most important things we must do. Life is complicated and full of challenges. If we don’t feel like we have a purpose, it will be tougher to get through the hard times. Staying true to your purpose will keep you grounded and on track. It will keep you moving in the right direction. I also feel that my journey has and is still revealing my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a proud Black Female Film and Farm Producer. I know that’s confusing, but let me explain. I have been in the film and television industry for over 24 years. Within the last year, I took on a new journey to revitalize our family farm that has been dormant for over 25 years. Our farm, Legacy Vibes Farms (@LegacyVibesFarms) is co-owned by my mother and sister. We are proud black female farmers who are continuing our family legacy. This project has gotten our entire family involved. Together, my sister and I have seven children. We are teaching our children about land ownership, preserving family legacy, and careers in agriculture. And our husbands are on board also. They’ve been extremely supportive through the process. If you haven’t noticed, not many farmers look like us. We consider ourselves the new faces of farming.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities or skills that have been impactful in my journey are confidence, consistency and storytelling. Confidence is important because if you don’t believe in yourself, why should anyone else? Consistency is important because it leads to momentum. The more consistently you do something, the easier it becomes, and the more momentum you build up. Plus, people trust people who are consistent in their craft or business. And last, storytelling has made a major impact in my life. Stories help us understand others and ourselves. It has helped me tremendously in media, film and television, public speaking and now farming in an industry where I’m a minority. We have to tell our own stories or someone else will, and they’ll get it wrong.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am looking for collaborations and partners. I am tying together my two worlds, film and farm. I currently have several television shows in development through my storytelling company, House of G, Inc. that are based on the agriculture industry. We’re always looking for amazing stories to tell in the industry.

My sister and I also recently launched our non-profit organization, The Legacy Vibe Project. The Legacy Vibe Project is an Agriculture Innovation Center and Non-Profit Organization that offers no-cost education, programs and technical assistance to the community to encourage land ownership and preservation of family legacies through agriculture. We’re teaching families in underserved communities how to start a farm, how to grow their own food and encouraging them to hold on to their family legacies. We are always looking for new farms to host workshops and partners to help us educate the community.

If you have an amazing story that you’d like to tell, contact us at info@houseofginc.com. To partner with The Legacy Vibe Project, email hello@thelegacyvibeproject.org.
