Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gloria Clay. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Gloria, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My residence runs deep in my family history. I came from hard working parents and grandparents. My dad raised hogs for a living. My maternal grandfather has his own Pulp wood business. My paternal grandfather worked the railroads. My mother and both of my grandmothers raised children while tending a garden, making butter. Every thing my mother and grandmother made was from scratch.. I watch my loves one work: not just work but worked hard. So it was only natural for me to have that same driving passion..
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My story is simple. I have always cooked food and baked desserts and donated it. Whether it’s baking a cake and giving it the local church for a fun raiser or cooking a complete meal to donate to my husband job. I love cooking it’s my passion. To be able to give it away warms my heart. I have been donating cooked foods for over 20 years. When I went vegan I saw a better way to help provide nourishing meals to my community. So for 10 years I have been cooking and baking vegan foods and donating to whomever wants it. The joy my heart feels when a non-vegan eats my food is priceless. ] want to be able to share this kindness gesture of giving to the world. I have 2 projects coming up for the women homeless shelters here in my city and I can’t wait! I will be doing a complete meal with a dessert. To Be Kind, To Be Compassionate, and to Have Patience is in the foods I cook..
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My three qualities are Compassion, Kindness. and Patience.. Having these have helped me in the trial and errors in the kitchen.. One have to be ok with a dish that has failed; that’s where learning comes into play. And most importantly., it’s ok to start the cooking or baking process back over again. The advice I have is do what makes “You” happy and make sure you are doing it for yourself. Life can throw you all kinds of curve balls but the lesson is to keep on swinging.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents ever did for me was gave me “life Talks”They told me that I could succeed in anything I put my heart and mind to, that learning starts before we are born and we keep learning until we are no longer on this earth., that’ if you tell someone you are going to do something, you keep your word and do it and finally if you can’t help someone don’t you dare hurt them.
