Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gloria Gomez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gloria , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I believe the creativity Comes with Working I’ve found that creative ideas come after I start doing my floral arrangements. If I wait for the creative idea to come first, nothing would be produced. Work brings results. Doing the craft generates more ideas. The act of making flower arrangements produces more ideas. The act of being creative produces more creativity.
For me is very important my creative Space
Some people work well in activity and chatter. Others need quiet and order. Find what your creative space is. This includes mental space and physical space. Mental space is what’s needed for the creative juices to flow. Negativity and ‘no’ tend to close down the mental space. Positivity and ‘yes’ tends to open up the creative juices. Surround yourself with what’s need for the creative energy to flow. Physical space may be a coffee shop, or a quiet library, or a home office. I need music for example an a very organize place.
Make More Mistakes
Creativity is risky stuff. Being creative pushes against boundaries. You must risk. You must make more mistakes. Let yourself make mistakes. Art is not for the safe. If we operate within safety, our creativity suffers. Try something new. Risk. Try. Fail. Try something else. Do it all again.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi there! Have we met before? I’m Gloria – owner + designer of Lilies Floral Design!
The hardest part about building this website wasn’t the planning and building it out, but rather taking that moment to write a few words about myself… eek! It’s pretty easy to hide behind a bucket of flowers, but at the heart of my business, I’m the kind of gal who truly values a meaningful connection with my clients. I love hearing about your journey and what flowers mean to you. It’s always my honor to be able to convey your story and personality through floral design.
Now, a few fun things I thought I’d share about myself!
My favorite color is military green.
I’m a wife and mother of two beautiful children, they are my life and total motivation.
One of my biggest passions outside of floral design is dancing! If I’m not playing around with flowers, you’ll most likely find me in the gym or running.
Dance is another love language of mine, and it is definitely one of my favorite forms of expression. I danced Ballet when I was a little girl and I tried again when I was an adult. After that I felt in love with Salsa dance when I was 27.
We are a family business and we are experts in weddings, Quinceaneras, corporate events and Same day flowers delivery for any occasion.
Favorite flower:
Orchids
A quote I love:
“I can do everything in Christ who strengthens me”
Philippians 4:13
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Made the bride vision come true 2. Super responsive with all my customer. My goal is make feel my customers unique!
3. I’m very passionate of my work and passionate about making people happy!
My advise is try to be the best version of you with your customers and make them feel unique!
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
My big challenge is sell and understand a new culture. I’m a Latin woman in an Anglo market, I love the variety and learn about other cultures but I’m not laying, the language was an obstacle at the beginning, sometime still, but I’m taking English classes and practice to improve my English all the time.
