Meet Gloriemar Roberto

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gloriemar Roberto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gloriemar , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Ive found out that if i just be myself that success will follow. I find strength in individuality, and comfort in Authenticity, which allows me to speak my voice and remain myself no matter where I go. Im a proud Puerto Rican artist i was born to create and express myself in many ways. I believe everyone has there own secret recipe that they bring to the table, and im still developing my own sauce.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Gloriemar Roberto and I’m an Artist and Creator. I’ve been drawing for as long as long as I can remember using any tools around me to create art. My style is more feminine with a hint of darkness that lured the viewer in with curiosity. I grew up watching a lot of shows that inspired me to create my own fantasies on paper. Lately I been painting more using Acrylic paints on canvas and experimenting with animation on Procreate. I’m also a Tattoo Artist , I used to draw designs up for my friends to get tattoos on them until I came up with the idea to learn how to tattoo myself. And I did now I work at shop in Cleveland putting my art on skin, and I’m loving every second of it. I have so much to learn , but I’m trusting the process.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Some skills that has impacted my journey as an Artist has definitely been my courage to dive head first into pursuing a career that involves creating art despite some people in my life that tried steering me in a different direction. Also my social networking skills, the desire to work with other artist and people that shared the same love or creating Art as I do while remaining humble. I believe it’s all on who you know that will make you successful. And plus some work my work ethic is always to show up and do your best no matter how it looks like that day. I made it a point to place myself in areas where other artist are, so if someone is looking into selling art or tattoo I’ll advise them to go to different art shows, art festivals, tattoo conventions, get involved with the art community your village is definitely out there.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
How to be A Bad Ass by Jen Sincero Taught me that my love for creating art is bigger than any doubt of the future or fear of failure. That it is a gift , imagination it’s a mental kitchen where we cook up different ideas. And I take ingredients from my life and things around me to create the life that I desire. I see myself teaching my children what is possible by creating my dream life. What will you cook up with yours ? I encourage everyone who’s struggling on becoming the bad ass versions of themselves to read this book as many times as needed.
