Meet Glory St. Germain

We were lucky to catch up with Glory St. Germain recently and have shared our conversation below.

Glory, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome was not an overnight transformation for me; it was a deeply personal and evolving journey that started from the moment I dared to dream bigger than my doubts. As a music teacher, author, and course creator, I constantly grappled with that nagging feeling of unworthiness. Questions like, Who would listen to me? Who would ever want to learn from my work or use my books? Played on repeat in my mind, like an unwelcome soundtrack that held me back.

When I stepped into entrepreneurship, the doubts only amplified. I feared judgment and criticism, convincing myself that I wasn’t good enough. But what ultimately helped me face down my imposter syndrome was my deep, passionate desire to teach music theory in a way that students could truly understand and feel empowered by. That desire pushed me to create, and I eventually authored more than 60 books in the Ultimate Music Theory Program—an accomplishment I could never have imagined when I first started.

Interestingly, the more my passion for music theory education grew, the more I realized that my mission was expanding. It wasn’t just about helping students; it was about helping teachers too. Yet that internal, doubtful voice lingered: Who would want to learn from me? It was loud, insistent, and, at times, relentless. But as I continued, I discovered that this voice could be managed and silenced. The key was anchoring myself in a greater purpose.

My breakthrough came when I realized that if I could help just one teacher build confidence in their teaching and increase their income, then I would have succeeded. The thought of empowering even one music educator kept me motivated and inspired. I had a heartfelt desire to see teachers thrive, and this mission grew into something bigger: the vision to build a global community of educators, all united in enriching lives through music education.

Imposter syndrome is that voice in your head telling you that you’re not good enough, that you don’t belong. It’s a master of disguise, creeping in and making you question your worth. But what I’ve learned is that the words we use—especially the ones we speak to ourselves—hold immense power. What we speak is what we believe to be true. To change my reality, I had to transform the way I spoke to myself. I had to change my words, my thoughts, and ultimately, my actions.

And while the journey is ongoing, I’ve come to understand that imposter syndrome is not a sign of weakness. Rather, it’s an opportunity to grow, to deepen our self-awareness, and to become the kind of entrepreneur who leads with both passion and purpose. It’s about recognizing that our stories, no matter how small they seem, can make a world of difference to someone else. For me, every time I help a teacher feel more confident, I’m reminded that my journey from imposter to entrepreneur was worth every moment of doubt. It was the foundation on which I built a global vision—one that continues to enrich lives through the universal language of music.

And so, to anyone wrestling with that inner critic, remember: your voice matters, your story has value, and your passion can lead to a purpose that impacts the world in ways you never imagined. It’s time to silence the doubts and believe in the difference you’re meant to make.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey as a music teacher, author, course creator, and speaker, I can point to three key qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that had the most profound impact on my growth. First, the commitment to always be learning from the best—embracing courses for my own professional development, and continually honing my skills as a coach, author, and educator. I found that staying open to learning, regardless of where I was on my path, kept my creativity alive and allowed me to refine my craft constantly.
Second, I mastered the art of ‘speed of implementation.’ Taking immediate action steps to grow my business became essential. Working alongside high-level coaches and mentors who held me accountable helped me set clear goals and define specific rewards upon achieving them. This ‘take-action’ mindset enabled me to move forward with purpose and confidence.
The third quality that shaped my journey—and perhaps the most vital—was developing the discipline to read and learn from the great books of business leaders and entrepreneurs. Diving into stories of success, particularly within my industry, taught me that discipline is truly the master of success. To succeed, you need a burning desire, unwavering discipline, and a passion that fuels your purpose, pushing you forward to achieve your dreams.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this: FOCUS. Be specific and write down your deepest desires. Develop a plan, map out your path, and be diligent about tracking your progress. Partnering with an accountability partner or mentor will keep you on track and encourage you through the challenging moments. And remember to celebrate every win—whether big or small—because each step forward is a victory.
So, keep dreaming big, stay dedicated, and enjoy the journey. #LovingLife #DreamBig

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Out of all the books I’ve read, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill stands out as a powerful force in my personal and professional development. This book has become a cornerstone in my journey, one that I return to often, each time discovering new insights. I even use The Think and Grow Rich Journal, a companion tool that brings Hill’s principles into everyday practice—it’s a “must-read” for any entrepreneur seeking to master their mindset and fuel their success.
One of the most valuable and impactful lessons for me has been Hill’s teaching on developing FAITH through autosuggestion, desire, and the subconscious mind. Hill emphasizes the profound influence of our thoughts and beliefs on shaping our reality. For me, this was a revelation—the understanding that by training my subconscious through repeated affirmations and visualization, I could cultivate a deep-seated belief in my goals and abilities. This practice became a powerful way to combat my own imposter syndrome, allowing me to step forward with confidence and purpose.
Another essential takeaway from the book is the mastery of overcoming fear, particularly the fear that can hold us back from achieving our true potential. Hill teaches that persistence and sustained effort are the antidotes to fear and self-doubt. Through dedicated focus and an unwavering commitment to our dreams, anything becomes possible. It’s the power of the mind and the driving force of our thoughts that allow us to ultimately shape our destiny.
Think and Grow Rich isn’t just a book; it’s a mindset shift. It’s a reminder that we have the ability to rise above our doubts and shape our lives through the strength of our desire, faith, and persistence. For anyone on a journey to success, it’s an essential read that unlocks the true power within.
