Meet Godswill Muofhe

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Godswill Muofhe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Godswill, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my upbringing and life experiences. My upbringing instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility and the value of hard work. Observing my mother’s unwavering dedication to her faith and family left a strong impression on me. She taught me the importance of keeping God first in your life and working diligently, regardless of obstacles, and that consistent effort is the key to success.

Additionally, reading books about successful leaders and innovators, as well as having mentors, and being around other people who are commitment to their craft has contributed to my work ethic. Their stories and examples serve as a reminder that success is not merely a destination, but an ongoing journey characterized by continuous effort and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I run a start up media production and custom print shop company in Houston, Texas. We offer custom printing services for clothing and we don’t have a minimum order quantity required to order from us. Unlike most print shops that require you to order 50 to 75 shirts, which can be hard for people just starting their streetwear brand, business, or organization.

What I feel is special about CITIZENS OF THE INTERNET is that we have the ability to take an idea, develop the idea, and then bring the idea into reality. Everything we make is made in house, by us, and I think that’s the coolest thing about the company. We are very DIY. We have a “if you want something done then you gotta do it yourself” mentality, which fosters a culture of learning, developing new skills, and refining the skills that we already have.

I don’t know where else I would be able to get an opportunity to express myself creatively as a designer, a business man, and a filmmaker. So I decided to create the opportunity for myself. The goal is to set an example for people of the same upbringing, who lack opportunity, that they have the power to create their own reality. We are currently working hard on new pieces for our own streetwear brand drop, attending pop-up shops, recording more content, and building relationships with the right people and businesses in Houston.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Curiosity, resilience, and a passion to learn. Being curious has exposed me to new ideas and different perspectives. It’s forced me to get out of my comfort zone. Resilience has helped me ride the ups and downs that come with any journey. It’s allowed me to bounce back from setbacks, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward even when faced with obstacles. Finally, a passion to learn has driven me to seek out new information and expand my understanding on design, art, fashion, and the world.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to nurture these qualities. Ask questions, explore different perspectives, and seek out new experiences. Embrace challenges, learn from failure, and develop a growth mindset. Learn as much as possible and engage in thoughtful conversations. Remember, the journey is not about reaching a destination but about the growth and transformation that happens along the way.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Bible has been a book that has played the most important role in my development. My favorite verses are Mathew 19:26 “Jesus looked at them and said, with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” And Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
