Meet Golden Child

We were lucky to catch up with Golden Child recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Golden Child, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’ve watched my mom be on time for work for years. Even on tough days . So I know what it means to bounce back from from hard times through hard work and dedication.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Born in Houston, Texas, I’ve come to be a music producer and mixing engineer, that has the ear and ability to take your song production to a top tier professional level, with over a decade of musical experience.

At the age of 12, Golden Child joined the middle school band as a percussionist, after being musically influenced by family. I quickly became captain of the drumline in high school, and continued throughout college at Prairie View A&M University.

After leaving Prairie View in 2016, I’ve been working full time on producing for local artist.

I believe what I like most about producing is the process of starting from scratch, using my resources, and creating something the artist loves and appreciates. Their reactions are always priceless, along with collaborating with them, who in turn gives this gift to the world. Doing this with the right person is truly magical. Nobody is concerned with rehearsal. They just want to be entertained. And that’s the goal.

My first project ‘It’s Goldie Baby’ released in February 2022 brought much success. Currently I am looking to work on solo projects with talented artist to present to the world. Also a collaborative project with Perfect Timing Entertainment LLC.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In the beginning it was all about gaining knowledge and experience. AKA, trial and error. Anything I learned or came across on YouTube, I tried it on my next beat. Knowledge is nothing without action. Constantly make improvement on each try. Apply any new knowledge and eliminate any mistakes. Go back to your beginning projects often, and you’ll definitely see improvement.

Second, is to utilize what you have. Never think about what you don’t have. Think of what you do have, and how you can use it. Expensive equipment will not make you better in the beginning.

And small wins add up.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents as well as grand parents have always encouraged me to do what I wanted, and helped me believe I can be anything. Raising me well, calibrating that moral compass, and speaking positivity into me has been the greatest gift.
