We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gonzalo Eyzaguirre. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gonzalo below.
Gonzalo, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I must say that optimism comes and goes. My optimism stems from the passion and love I have for what I enjoy doing. In this case, music gives me the optimism to live and take action, as it allows me to experience unique moments and adds significant value to my life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Gonzalo Eyzaguirre, a Chilean drummer and music producer based in Boston, Massachusetts. My career began as a drummer in recording studios and live performances, collaborating with artists and musical productions across Europe, North America, and Latin America. Today, I’m proud to be an endorser for Zildjian and Vic Firth, two of the world’s most renowned cymbal and drumstick companies.
Currently, I work with Musiversal, a platform that connects remote session musicians with global projects. Over the past two years, I’ve contributed as a drummer and percussionist to more than 1,000 recordings. In 2024 alone, I’ve worked with 20 to 30 artists weekly, completing over 400 recordings in just the first five months of the year.
In addition to my work as a drummer, I’m also a sound designer and composer for film, television, video games, and advertising. Some of my notable projects in 2024 include the soundtrack for the video game «Karate Kid» (available on PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox) and the series «Bookie», streaming on HBO Max and starring Charlie Sheen. I’ve also composed music for global brand campaigns, including Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and the NFL.
In the world of electronic music, I launched the project Stas, where I blend original tracks with live performances using drum pads, triggers, and synthesizers.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe the three main qualities that have been key in my career are: the courage to keep learning and growing as an artist, an open mind when it comes to being a musician—allowing me to explore different disciplines within the artistic world—which has helped me work in various areas to reach what I truly want to do, and lastly, consistency and repetition, without which nothing would be possible.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, at the moment, I am constantly looking for singers who are interested in collaborating on electronic music productions for my project, Stas—whether for original tracks or remixes. I will be releasing a new track soon. I’m always open to proposals, so you can reach me through my social media or my website: www.gonzaloeyzaguirrer.com.
